Chairman of the Bluth Company is arrested for defrauding investors.
NEWPORT BEACH (Episode 1)—The Securities and Exchange Commission (S.E.C.) raided the yacht of Newport Beach-based Bluth Company to arrest former chairman George Bluth, Sr. on charges of defrauding customers and using the company as a personal piggy bank. Moments before the arrest, Bluth named wife Lucille Bluth as the new company chairman, passing up heir-apparent Michael Bluth Apparently, based on faulty information from the company lawyers, the senior Bluth erroneously believed that naming Ms. Bluth chairman would prevent the S.E.C. from indicting her.
The Bluth Company is headquartered in Newport Beach, and its latest housing development is Sudden Valley. The Bluth Company also operates the Bluth’s Original Frozen Bananas stand on Balboa Island.
