Dr. Tobias Fünke was the chief resident of psychiatry at Mass General, before he lost his medical license after administering CPR to a person who didn’t need it. Tobias is now pursuing his acting career. Tobias is married to Lindsay, and together they have a daughter, Maeby.
David Cross is a stand-up comic, known for portraying quirky characters on Mr. Show, Newsradio, and Just Shoot Me. Earned three Emmy nominations and a Cable Ace Award for his work on Mr. Show with Bob and David. David’s movie credits include Scary Movie 2, the Men in Black movies, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Oh, Tobias, you blowhard! Tobias is one of the more endearing characters of AD, since he has an almost boundless optimism of his situation...or this could just be his SpongeBob-ish obliviousness...either way, it works.
Edit: I created an avatar out of the sketches provided on the BO-P homepage. I like Tobias’ the most out of the selections, because it really highlights his cartoon-ish nature. Also, the sketch looks a bit like an R. Crumb drawing, no?
