Last season’s scene-stealing guest star, Henry Winkler, returns as George, Sr.’s legal counsel. George, Sr. is apprehended after his jailbreak - but the police have mistakenly caught Oscar, George, Sr.’s twin brother. With George Sr. at large, Michael is next in line to be prosecuted for the crimes of the company, and must come up with funds immediately to stay out of jail. Too proud and angry to ask his family members for help, Michael is further vexed to find out that they are doing perfectly well without him - Lindsay and Tobias have decided to have an open relationship, Tobias auditions for The Blue Man Group, G.O.B. is running the company and Lucille has asked Oscar to move in to be a role model for Buster.

In this episode, Gob says something like "I got the thingie Michael, half in English, half in ..."

The transcript says "squibbly" but squibbly isn’t a real word. It sounds like it could be scribbly or squiggly, but my friend and I are having a heated debate about it.

Anyone care to shed some light on the topic?

It’s most definitely "squibbly" in my mind. Whether or not a word exists wouldn’t matter to Gob.

That’s the entire joke. He has no idea what word to use so he just invents one he thinks is right. Classic Gob.

i’ve got a question. according to wiki:

Although this episode takes place the day after Let ’Em Eat Cake, it was in fact filmed several months later, hence why some of the characters (notably Lindsay) look different, and the kids have matured slightly since the last episode.

how do we know this exactly? i can’t recall everyone but i’m pretty sure they’re all wearing the same clothes from LEEC in TOWML which would imply to me that TOWML starts on the same day that LEEC left off.

another observation being since michael was ready to leave for phoenix the same day in LEEC, why would he stay the night after deciding he was leaving again?

also one of the first exchanges of the episode:

Michael: I’d like to see the look on their faces right now. (Imitating.) Where’d he go?

George Michael: Or they’d think we just headed home. Actually, you know, that’s kind of what I thought until I heard about all that Phoenix stuff.

"or they think they just headed home" from the hospital, but instead head straight for phoenix.

anything that works against this theory?

It does take place on the same day, but was filmed probably a few months after LEEC so the characters might look a bit older or whatever, although I never noticed a difference.

Again, this is just people nitpicking at details, most notably on how the characters look different, although in reality you really can’t tell. I think it probably should be edited to say it takes place on the same day. But this is just another example of the inattention to detail that wiki is known for.

This is the first episode of the second season, the first and second seasons weren’t filmed one right after the other.

Haven’t watched the show in a while, but if my memory serves me correctly, they couldn’t go Phoenix because Michael couldn’t leave the state, due to George Sr.’s legal problems.

i know that. i’m saying they both take place on the same day storywise. filmwise there’s definitely a several month gap between the two.

I think even the members of the-op would agree on that one.
