for some reason the first time i saw this ep i really laughed at the part when lindsay is shot in the ass by tobias after howling like a wolf. but the second time there was nothing.

I really don’t see what’s so bad about it. It’s not one of my favourites but I don’t dislike it.

Yeah, I think this episode is pretty underrated. It’s actually my favorite of the middle of Season 2. Which isn’t saying much, but still.

This exchange is just classic AD:

Lucille 2: You have no courage!

GOB: HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT!...sshhh, I think I heard my mother...how can you say that?

And when GOB accidentally set off the fireball in the kitchen, that was one of the most laugh out loud moments of the season for me. I guess that’s just me though.

I think this episode deserves a bit more consideration, but it’s still not that great. The readers here rank it at 49th, and my personal ranking is 37th. But I’m sorta unbalanced because Sad Sack through Ready, Aim, Marry Me were the first six episodes I saw of the series, and most of those eps (Afternoon Delight - 9th) aren’t higher than 40 here. But since I heard so much brouhaha about the greatness of AD at the time, they were more gem-ish to me at first, not knowing any other eps at the time.

I don’t get the dislike at all, I thought this episode was funny, sure not as funny as a bunch of others but still greater than any other show. There were a lot of parts I thought were funny not just a couple

-club sauce (no im just helping her eat)

-"maybe she forgot her old lady glasses" "what is the matter with you Gobie??!"

-"im going to see if I can get a wrench to strip my nuts"

-"mikey my eyes are burrrning""this isnt turning into the party hang out I’d hoped"

and I always laugh when Sitwell starts up a deep voice and reads the deserts to Lucille 2

"an assortment of ice creams and sorbets!"

It’s just not up to AD’s usual standards, in my opinion. The plot didn’t do it for me, for starters. The way Michael constantly looked bad in front of Sally Sitwell, the CD burning party, the wolf... they were just... lame. The whole episode just seemed sloppily written to me. And while there ARE some funny moments (eg. Tobias walking in with a gun and saying "I got some looks on the bus for this!"), there is nothing to make it stand out from any other AD episode.

Hell, Ready Aim Marry Me might have had a dumb storyline, but it kept me laughing my ass off the whole episode. Prison Break-In is an aqquired taste, but I like the dark-ness of it, and Buster’s turtle storyline was genius. But... Burning Love? A couple of chuckles without much else to offer does not make a memorable episode for me. Certainly not with AD.

As far as I’m concerned, this deserves to be in the bottom 5, if not last. The fact that it deserves such a low ranking, and yet is NOT by any means "bad," is a testiment to Arrested Development’s standards.

I totally agree with what you’re saying. I don’t know if it was the lame wolf storyline, the fact that Sally Sitwell is so incredibly boring or what, but that’s probably the worst AD episode.

#81 ACR wrote on April 05, 2007:

Wouldn’t say the worst but probably them most forgettable for me

Thats one hypnotic clip there GOBstopper

#82 Nicholas Angel wrote on June 02, 2007:

I love this episode. It’s so darn wacky, and although it doesn’t really stay true to the AD spirit, as a stand alone episode, it’s great. The Frank Wrench stuff had me in stitches.

#83 Killer Sundin wrote on July 12, 2007:

What is the song called that has the lyrics "Shot By Love"?
