I’m huge fan of puppets, and really liked the use of Franklin in this episode. The close-up on his eyes amongst the others was classic! Still, I think he belongs as a reference to Sesame Street, as there was, way back, a young character named Roosevelt Franklin, who was black and sorta jive-talkie, which led to him ultimately being removed from the show, due to beliefs that he represented negative African-American stereotypes. If I am right in my assumption, all the more points to the geniuses behind this terrific show.

Franklin is the best character ever.

Chuck and Bob anyone?

I’m pretty sure that Franklin’s name is yet another "Peanuts" reference. If you don’t remember, Franklin was Charlie Brown’s only black friend.
