Volunteer! A Message From New Campaign Coordinator Kiarnit

Postby editor » February 13th, 2005, 4:27 pm

Kiarnit has graciously agreed to help coordinate our campaign efforts. I've spoken extensively with Kiarnit, and I believe she'll be able to help turn our visions into concrete results. She has a strong background in directing the logisitics of large group efforts, and she shares our passion for Arrested Development.

Please join me in welcoming her aboard in this role, so don't be surprised when she contacts you!

coordinating volunteers

Postby Kiarnit » February 13th, 2005, 4:51 pm

Thank you, dear Editor! I'm very excited about our current campaign to raise FOX's awareness of the rabid fan base it has on its hands, and about upcoming campaigns Mr. Editor and I want to organize to get the word out and raise viewership in the general public.

What I need is an ORGANIZATION of volunteers. I have a spreadsheet where I have already noted names, interests, and locations of those of you who have responded to calls for volunteers on the boards, but I would like you to E-MAIL me directly.

Please tell me
1) your name (or what you'd like to be called),
2) the city you live in,
3) any special abilities or background you have (graphic design programs you use, fundraising experience, managerial experience, OCD, contacts at FOX, etc.),
4) what specific activities you're most interested in doing, and
5)whether you're interested in acting as a regional coordinator for people who live near you.

A regional coordinator will probably be involved in doing things like getting flyers printed and then distributing them to people in the area who put them up, recruiting people to go walk in the park in groups wearing their AD shirts, stuff like that.

You can e-mail me at kiarnit@saveourbluths.com. Talk to y'all soon!

1) Dan
2) Lexington, KY (Franklin, WI in the summer (near Milwaukee)
3) Run an arrested group at my school. Computer-Aided-Drsfting (but that won't help here).
4) Campus organization, getting students to support the show. Flyers, hopeful school newspaper article.
5) I don't have accsess to a lot of transportation off campus so that'd be a no.

4) Anything related to design, either for print, internet, or whatever, preferably. But I might be up for other things, depending on what they are and what kind of schedule I have.
5) Not if at all possible.

1. Jacob
2. Houston, TX
3. I'm a writer, and that's pretty much all.
4. I do write for a few places (the Uiversity of Houston-Downtown being the most circulated one), so I think that I could easily write up some articles to get interest in the show.
5. Eh, I really don't have the resources to pull that off.

a quick update

Postby Kiarnit » February 14th, 2005, 1:13 am

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I greatly appreciate everybody who's posted and e-mailed to express their willingness to volunteer. microtone is right that it makes things a little simpler for me if you e-mail me directly instead of posting on the board, but I will gladly take your information any way I can get it, and if you post on the board I will PM or e-mail you.

Things are going on behind the scenes, and Mr. Editor and I have been working on the logistics behind getting the banana balls distributed once they are ordered, and on setting up the next round of fundraising and publicity activities.

We need to collect handwritten notes and online comments to send in with the banana balls to FOX, and I will be renting a P.O. box that you can use to send your comments to and posting a form that you can use. Look for this information coming soon.

We will also be setting a new fundraising goal, outlining new publicity activities to reach out to new viewers, and organizing media coverage of these activities. This next wave of grassroots guerrilla marketing activities is going to center around promoting the 1-hour block of AD episodes on March 6th. And don't worry, we're going to follow things up with more activities after that.

We're getting a great volunteer response so far - keep it coming! With the skills I'm seeing rolling in among the volunteers so far, I'm confident that we'll have a major media impact.

I'm too tired to come up with a clever AD quote to close this out with, so let me just say again that I'm really gratified by everyone's response and hope to see the e-mails keep flooding in.

3) just a poor student...with enthusiasm for AD
4) I'll do anything really.....e-mails, letter writing, whatever we can think of
5)I'd be interested in working with others in the Bay Area, but I don't want to take leadership responsibilities.

I'll also e-mail this info to you:

1) Cindy
2) Turnersville, NJ (not far from Philadelphia, PA, which is where I work)
3) I have some graphic design skills, I'm a writer (great for writing persuasive letters and essays), and my father sells advertising specialties (like the bananas, T-shirts, etc.)
4) Whatever it takes
5) I'm a little afraid to be the actual coordinator (not that organized), but I'd gladly help out in anyway I can.

I already emailed this but thought I'd introduce myself:

1) Bill Quigley
2) Chicago, IL
3) Writing mostly. I run a soccer news website so I do have the chops to write a PR release or anything that is needed.
4) I'd be interested in doing anything that I can do in my schedule to help save this show
5) If nobody was interested in volunteering, I could be a coordinator.

In order to show FOX that these banana balls aren't just coming from a couple of kooks with $1K burning a hole in their pockets, we want to include as many handwritten notes with them as possible. I went and rented a P.O. box today where you can send me your submissions. Note that this is not to replace letters that you send on your own to the FOX bigwigs, this is a supplement to up the impact of our little gift of good tidings. Send your submissions to:

The Balboa Observer-Picayune
P.O. Box 4155
Austin, TX 78765-4155

PLEASE INCLUDE:
1) YOUR FULL NAME
2) YOUR PHYSICAL ADDRESS
3) THE FACT THAT YOU WANT FOX TO RENEW ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT
3) your age
4) your household income
5) THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD WHO WATCH AD
6) your heartfelt comments
7) YOUR SIGNATURE

I will keep all information CONFIDENTIAL. It's okay if you don't want to include some of this stuff, but your comments will have a lot more impact with FOX if they know your demographics and it's obvious that your identity can be verified.

PLEASE HANDWRITE (LEGIBLY) as much of the letter as you can. This will make it clear to FOX that it's not just a form letter you signed. However, I will be posting a form in the next day or two that you can print out and handwrite your info on.

Saying stuff about how you will buy products from companies that advertise on AD is always good. Talking about how you will burn down FOX headquarters if they don't renew AD is bad. I won't send along anything too scurrilous or legally actionable, so please keep the tone persuasive, or at least non-psychotic.

PLEASE MAIL YOUR SUBMISSIONS TO ME BY MONDAY, MARCH 7TH. If you don't drop them in the mailbox by then, send them directly to FOX just like you would a regular letter of comment.

Also, to make this more efficient: COLLECT LETTERS FROM AS MANY AD VIEWERS AS YOU CAN AND SEND THEM TO ME ALL AT ONCE. If you're up to it. You know that friend who says, "Oh, yeah, I'll send a letter"? Have him write it out, snatch it from him, and send it to me with your own.

You guys rock. I will post this info in a separate thread once I have the downloadable form ready.

Could you send us a PM or something when you get the letter. I've had troubles before with my university mailing service. As in my parents sent my housing check to school 3 weeks ago and it came today...
