Long Story:
The O.P. had been hosted on a variety of providers, but each had problems until we settled on one in 2005 known for its reliability. This provider is more expensive, but provided excellent service. We've been there since then; an eternity in web time. Recently, unbeknownst to us, the provider was sold. The new owners have not been forthcoming about the changes they wanted to make, and unresponsive to service issues. After the outage last weekend (February 1), we immediately secured a new provider and made plans to move everything over. We set this weekend (February 7) as the date of the switchover.
Of course, the old provider's entire network became unreachable as of 8AM on February 7, right when we planned to switchover. We were unable to access our files on the old server until just after 1PM on February 8. However, data was corrupted on the old server, so we attempted to recover as much data as possible and load it into the new server. So there may be some slight quirks on the new site now. We apologize for any issues that may result, but glad that we are finally off the nightmarish host.
Just in case anyone was interested in the boring behind the scenes drama of web hosting...
