FOX REDUCING AD EPISODE ORDER

I can't believe this! I'm freaking out, I mean this show is so critically acclaimed (hey doesnt that golden globe for bateman count for anything???) and it obviously has a cult following, they should at least be able to finish out the second season with their 22 episodes and let it at least have a chance.

aghhhh
Ah... the clumsy adolescent. It’s a phase we’ve all been through. Except for me. I was like a cat. I always ended up on all fours. (Long pause.) Like a cat.

I don't want it to go to HBO... I don't have HBO and wouldn't be able to see it until the DVDs came out. I wouldn't mind a standard cable network, but I still don't think that's good enough. No, we need to save it on Fox so that there will still be quality programming on network TV!

Crying or Very sad

Exactly. Not to mention that huge freaking night at the Emmys. FOX has no idea how to make critically acclaimed shows work. It took post American Idol slot to turn 24 into a success. What I dont understand is if they feel the need to pimp American Dad why can't they just alter the Sunday lineup to

6:00 KotH
6:30 MitM
7:00 Simpsons
7:30 American Dad
8:00 Family Guy
8:30 Arrested

I mean they were so freaking hell bent on this full year of new programming and now instead of going with new episodes of American Dad and Family Guy going into the summer they are forcing them in after the Simpsons hoping to push them in the ratings while the Simpsons are on the air with new episodes at the expense of a show they should be able to get to succeed in AD. They keep wondering why it doesn't succeed and then they pull this which certainly is not gonna help the show succeed. .

The only way FOX could appease us fans after this axe to the back is saying "okay we are cutting back AD so we can push our new potential hit show American Dad by spotlighting it after the Simpsons, BUT we are confident that Arrested Development can still become the hit show it has potential to be and are giving it an early 3rd season renewal despite the cut order for season 2."

Please, FOX, make me seem not so crazy.

FOX: Coka-coka-coka-coh.

I can't believe Fox is being such a chicken with letting such a quality show succeed. I am so angry, from the disgraceful 'season finale' fiasco last year to the total botch job of promotion this year. This is the final straw. Fox, you are dead to me.

give it the lousy, post-Family Guy slot

Postby jediryan » February 9th, 2005, 5:02 pm

I agree completely with the proposition above.

If they sooooo desperately want American Dad to air after the Simpsons, they should stick Arrested back in the death slot following the new Family Guy episodes. They won't score huge ratings going up against Desperate Housewives, but then again, no one will. They might as well serve a rabid cult audience that is demographically pleasing to sponsors.

I also agree that they could end all the madness by just giving an early season three renewal. HOWEVER, cutting the number of episodes is still lunacy, even if they do that.

What saddest of all is that American Dad is not ever going to do as well as they did with their Post-Superbowl premiere. Most Family Guy fans weren't blown away by it, and are more interested in the new Family Guy episodes.

FOX cancelled Futurama, which went on to be a DVD and Cartoon Network hit.

FOX cancelled Family Guy, which went on to be a DVD hit and now they are bringing it back.

FOX cancelled Firefly, and now it is turning into a Major Motion Picture.

Now, FOX looks like they want to cancel Arrested Development in favor of a show by the guy who did Family Guy, because that show has such a big following, even though the followers of Family Guy aren't so excited about the new show. Meanwhile, Arrested Development is turning into a DVD hit...

It shouldn't be too hard to see that Arrested Development is on the road to the kind of success that all those other shows achieved after they were cancelled. Meanwhile, FOX is struggling with their glut of failed reality shows and has proclaimed a new emphasis on creating good "scripted" programs. Why they would choose to demonstrate this new strategy by cutting back the episode order for their best scripted show is beyond me.

I've said this on IMDb before...

If AD gets cancelled, I will:

Put on a pair of cut-offs and cry in the shower.
Walk around with my head down Charlie Brown style
Have a funeral and while crying say, " Whenever I needed to pretend to cry, I'd think about AD's cancellation. I tried it once with (insert any crappy Fox show here) but all it made me do was smile"

Ok, I signed the petition and e-mailed a strongly worded letter. If I get a chance, I might also write a real letter.
PLEASE EVERYONE! DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO SAVE THIS GREAT SHOW!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I had just finished watching the latest episode of AD on my computer (don't worry, I only recently got into the show after buying the DVDs, and downloaded the season 2 episodes so I could catch up) then I checked the official site and saw the sickening news.

I signed the petition and emailed Gail Berman. I'll send them a letter on Friday. This is so mind-numbingly ridiculous. Television needs this show!!!

They've Made a Huge Mistake

Postby Mr. Manager » February 9th, 2005, 6:11 pm

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I can understand the Fox brass wanting to give their new show a push, but why does it have to be at the expense of their good show?

I can't believe they would put so much faith in American Dad based solely on the post-Super Bowl show. You could put home movies of my dentist on after the Super Bowl and 15 million people would watch it. Plus, as a first episode, a lot of people were very curious to check it out. I watched it and, quite simply, it sucked. I wouldn't watch it again, and I'm sure I'm not alone. American Dad is no Family Guy, and I doubt it ever will be. It comes across as an unfunny copy of FG.

I'm just going to throw this out there and see what people think: does anyone have any ideas for an S.O.S. 'campaign' theme? Perhaps the most famous case (based on my google'ing) is when 'Roswell' fans deluged execs with thousands of little tiny Tabasco bottles -- could something similar work for Arrested?

I can confirm that to be the case -- the order was reduced to 18. Based on the current schedule, Arrested will run through April 17 (Episode #218), with the aforementioned pre-emption on February 27.

Hehe, maybe we can all send in SLUT-tshirts to this Gail Whoever...although it might be bad if she doesn't get it right away. It might be better to think of something more clever that won't just piss her off.

Do you think it will be better to type up the letters and send them snail mail or write them out? This may sound like a psycho question but I want us to all look as involved as possible.
