I'm from canada, so my demographic would be different.
i dont know if receiveing a letter from a canadian asking to save AD would have an impact or they'd just disregard it. cause im canadian...

MonkeyMe: I don't think it would hurt to send a letter anyway. Canada or not, you still watch the show.

Anyway, if we wanted to go with the fake bananas, I found a couple of sites where you can order plastic fruit.

http://www.barnardltd.com/$spindb.query.listallalpha.tdview.73.B

http://www.amazingproduce.com/ListSelect.cfm?recordID=Banana

The first one seems a little better, though slightly more expensive. But you can order any quantity you want there, while the other site requires you to buy in bulk. Just a thought.

Also, I think whatever we decide to do, we should alert Kristin Veitch at E! News online. She's a big fan of the show and can get the campaign some publicity. She did the same thing for the fans of the UPN show Veronica Mars, who incidentally, are collecting and sending Monopoly money.

Meanwhile, send those e-mails, write those snail mail letters, and call the comment lines! We will not go quietly into the night!

yeah! hell yeah!

we should get some of those handcuffs you can buy at the toy store and put them in a box too, with the houses or banana.

better yet, we could send them figs, not even at christmas, or better yet, a toe,! they'd go white as a sheet!

It's pretty simple, but I was thinking of making some sort of flashy and eye-grabbing AD graphic and then printing it out on postcard paper and sending it as a supplement to my strongly worded letter.

We need to create 'buzz' for the show. So something like bananas is better than monopoly houses because it's more visible. Just imagine Gail's secretary gettings bunchs and bunchs of bananas... she could pile them up in the corner of her office. Great visual impact.

On the other hand, there's something slightly missing from bananas. Real bananas would go bad. Fake bananas aren't that useful. One of the great thing about Tabasco sauce is that Gail's secretary would probably try to give them away to other people who work at Fox. Soon, everyone would have Tabasco sauce, and people on the lot would talk about fans saving the show. That's buzz.

Now, I don't have a great idea for something buzz-worthy. Non-perishable food seems like it would be really gift-able. How about cornballs? 'Twinkies' as a stand-in for bananas?

Just my two cents.

Bananas

Postby Aric's Ghost » February 10th, 2005, 11:24 am

I'm for fake bananas. Lamely, I'm reminded of that episode of Murphy Brown where a truck of potatoes were dumped at the White House gates. I think one hugh delivery of bananas would be excellent. Or in Miracle on 34th Street fashion. "20,000 bananas. All address to Gail."

Would a giant delivery of bananas at once be best, for the visual of it? It could easily be turned away.

Or perhaps each of us sending a banana individually in the mail every day till May? Maybe "Save Arrested Development" written on them in permanant marker?

Actually, Nazghalia, the "candy beans" idea is a pretty good one! That has potential...

Oooh, oooh... or maybe those little candy hearts! Isn't there a way you can get those custom printed now? We could make them all say "SAVE AD."

Editor, similar to whatever you set up to accept donations, perhaps you could set up a way that people can come here and make a monetary contribution so that all the fans can pool our money. Even if everyone pitched in like 5 bucks think how much that could buy. Let's say 300 people put in $5 bucks. That's $1500 dollars worth of bananas or whatever gets decided on. That'd be a big statement and maybe our gesture would generate some publicity of its own.

What if people rounded up cut-off jean shorts (a-la Nevernude) and mailed them in? They'd be relatively cheap to mail, wouldn't break, and everyone's got an old pair of jeans they could cut off.
Oh. Why don't I just take a whiz through this $5,000 suit? COME ON!

That's OK, Lincoln Hat. I did that earlier, too.

Here's a site where you can order custom made candy hearts.

And I got my avatar here:

damnnit!! I just heard about the news :(

I can't believe a show that wins an emmy for best sitcom and writing in it's first year can be screwed over like this!! Meanwhile shows like The Simple Life, American Idol, and other stupid reality shows live on!!!

Looking back in years, this will be one of the biggest mistakes that Fox has ever made.......and they made alot of mistakes!!

Sadly the GOB's song "The Final Countdown" seems to fit this situation. :(
"We're about asses to ankles back here, Maeby can you sit on your cousin's lap?"

The candy heart idea sounds great.
This site sells them cheaper than the site previously listed and also allows you to customize them with six different messages.

...And elaborating on the toy bees idea, what about bees made of beads?
