Syndication?

Postby shoe24 » April 19th, 2005, 9:21 pm

I don't know if this is something we have the power to make happen but if AD could get syndicated on a channel like Comedy Central, AD would get much more exposure which of course will help ratings and the extra income FOX gets from syndication could make keeping AD around a lot easier decision to make. It worked for Family Guy. Of course, we need to have a clear strategy. Anyone want to come up with some sort of plan?

I don't think a network would be interested in syndicating AD with so few episodes unless it doesn't get renewed. The only comedies I know of that got syndicated with fewer than 50 episodes are "Sports Night" and "Family Guy," both of which were cancelled at the time they were bought.

I think if Fox starts shopping AD around for syndication on another network, we should be very, very afraid; it signals that Fox isn't committed to the show.

On the other hand, I bet you're right about syndication being a great audience-builder. It's definetly a show that people need to get into the rhythm of, and showing it weeknights at 11:30 or whatever would probably help it in the same way it helped Family Guy!

The fact that we have already got 40 episodes is one thing that may actually help us in the long run from a financial standpoint for the network. Probably more so if they get a 3rd season and end up with 62 episodes(if they give S3 a 22 episode order) ....the most commonly supposed number of episodes thought to be enough for syndication is 100. Some people say that this is why NBC renewed Scrubs after its 3rd season for two more seasons even though it didn't do that fabulous in the ratings. In two more seasons the show would be a lock for syndication reaching over 100 episodes and seem more profitable.

So we want to see AD in syndication...just not very soon.

i dunno if this counts as syndication, but if FX showed AD repeats regularly, i think that will bring in a bunch of ans. can fox make a deal lke that?i mean, they already did the marathon a while back.
