It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

There are shows other than Arrested Development? Really?

Postby vcalzone » January 1st, 2007, 10:30 am

According to a promo on FX I saw the other day, it will be back this summer. Rock, flag and e-eagle! Yeah!

I unknowingly tuned in the other night and saw the show for the first time. It was an uncut episode (yippee) on FX. They found a dead guy in the bar and such. I'm sure you fans know the one I'm referring to. Anyways, I thought the show wasn't too bad. The humor wasn't bad, and the show definitely wasn't cookie cutter by any means. I'm not going to rush out and buy the DVD or anything (if it's even out) but the show is definitely gained a spot on my shows on notice list, which is good since the last show on that list was Scrubs, and now it's moved up to my favorites list.

But thank you, OP posters, after seeing this program in so many people's top ten lists, I thought it must be a pretty good one, and I guess I was right. It was one of the rare shows that got me interested after just one episode. AD took about 4, and Scrubs took about an entire season.

Wanna know something interesting? I'd say that one is in the bottom 5 of Sunny episodes.

I don't think there's been a DVD announced yet. I find it hard to believe FX wouldn't put one out before the third season, though.

Bottom five? The one with the Nazi Uniform and where Mac says the words- "Dude, you're grandfather's a Nazi!" - to Dennis is a bottom 5? Blasphemy. :P

Bottom five for me would be: The Gang Gets Racist, Dennis and Dee Get a New Dad, The Gang Goes Jihad, Gun Fever and Underage Drinking: A National Concern.

Top 5, in no particular order: Charlie Wants an Abortion, The Gang Gives Back, Dennis and Dee Go on Welfare, Charlie Goes America All Over Everybody's Ass and 100 Dollar Baby.

I'm going to give this a try too. Is there any particular episode you guys would recommend watching first to get the best feel for the show, or should I just start from the pilot?

The pilot is a good one, but NOT the best early one to watch to pick up the feel. Try Charlie Wants An Abortion. That should definitely have enough horrible stuff to give you an idea of what the show is.

And Jihad wasn't one I liked too much at first, but is actually one of my favorite episodes by now. Same for Gun Fever. Watching it and just enjoying how much
they hammer in that Dee's boyfriend was the theef
just keeps getting funnier to me. As well as Charlie's hilarious relationship with his landlord. And Underage Drinking is awesome, it was the one that made me really love the show.

My bottom 5 would be (in order from worst to better):
The Gang Gets Racist, Dennis and Dee Get a New Dad, The Gang Exploits a Miracle, Charlie Got Molested, and Gang Finds a Dead Guy.

Top 5: Mac Bangs Dennis' Mom, The Gang Runs For Office, Underage Drinking: A National Concern, Hundred Dollar Baby, and Charlie Has Cancer (Dude, is that a hate crime?)

I'll make my list later, but I just wanna say that my favorite episode is Dennis and Dee Go On Welfare!

My favorite scene ever is when they are trying to buy crack! I got all my friends into this show by showing them this episode
It is believed that AIDS was originally contracted from the monkeys, no not the band, but the animal. And we just wanted to deal with that issue. Just changing the attitude from 'eww AIDSy' to make it like 'ahh fun monkey disease'

Well I've watched the first 5 episodes so far. Pretty decent show. I'm not completely 'into' it yet but I'll definitely keep watching. Thanks to everyone who put this in their Top 10, as I probably wouldn't have watched otherwise.

Sorry for the double post, but thought I'd post this article about the Sunny cast at the TCAs, in case anyone hadn't seen it.

I had not! Thanks much!
I love this part:
When the conversation briefly turned to DeVito's much publicized drunken appearance on The View and its quick spread across the internet via YouTube, Day joked, "We've actually been discussing - You know, we all want to drum up as much publicity as we can so we're thinking we should make a sex tape and get it on the Internet." Day said the problem was that, expect for DeVito, "We're not famous enough yet," and that because of that, "It's just porn," rather than "A Sex Tape."

Also think "The Gang Gets Stockholm Syndrome" sounds like a great idea.

Just found out that Rob McElhenney (Mac) is going to be on Lost this season! Apparently Damon Lindelof is a big IASIP fan.

Rumor has it that he will
be an other
but I don't know how reliable that is

Well if he's an Other, than Jack/Sawyer/Kate will call him an
asshole
. I wonder if he'll cut off the sleeves on his t-shirt to "show off his tats."

I watched a marathon of this over Xmas break, and I'm glad I did. Arrested Development fans have been raving about this show for a long time, and now I can see why. Funny, funny shtuff.

Now I have to catch up with all of the episodes.
