Curb Your Enthusiasm

There are shows other than Arrested Development? Really?

I don't know that they are becoming more apparent I think that we have just learned the formula so well that we now can easily see what is going to happen later.

I don't know, I kind of felt this way in season 2 as well. I've enjoyed season 5 so far despite that the formula has been really been used too much, but I can see how many can't enjoy it.

Man in Airport: What's the name written right here? Is it your name? No, it's mine: Chris Darga. See, if this were *yours*, it would say: bleeping Douchebag. Asshole.

I need to watch this show, but my lack of HBO makes it difficult.
Maybe next June I'll pick up the first season during the Deep Discount DVD sale.

I've downloaded the first 4 seasons of this show and I LOVE IT! I've always seen the DVDs in stores, but never really looked into purchasing them, just didn't want to risk it, but after seeing the show on HBO at a friend's house several times, I looked into seeing if I could DL the shows and they're great. I'd be more interested in buying the DVDs, but $30 for 10 episodes of a show that isn't AD doesn't quite cut it.

So far I'm up to about the third ep of S3.

I have only seen parts of season 4,but it looks amazing.....I have the DVDs on my Xmas wish-list.

The scene where Larry and his wife are being interviewed for membership of the country club is absolutely hilarious.(I think its from 'The 5 Wood')

I also caught a little of 'The Car Salesman' last night (I know I'm slow, but I dont really watch them in any order until I get them on DVD), and the scene where Larry is talking to Jason Alexander about George Costanza is possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen.I think Jason and Larry ad-libbing a discussion about whether Costanza was funny or an idiot is every Seinfeld fans dream !

( Jason Alexander trying to illustrate that Costanza's character is a schmuck )

Jason:...and the masturation contests !!!!

Larry:I WAS IN A CONTEST, and you know I was in that masturbation contest....So what?, I'm a schmuck for being in a masturbation contest

PS:Just noticed that Tom the car salesman is also the photographer in the scene where Buster goes into the ocean and loses his hand

Carefull

Postby MisterLittleJeans » December 5th, 2005, 4:59 pm

I don't have HBO either so I've been downloading and watching the episodes this season. I got a letter yesterday from my ISP that said HBO had caught me downloading their shows and I'm having my internet connection threatened of being cut off.

This pisses me off cause I own the first 4 seasons on DVD and plan do buy this season too and then this happens.

I guess I got lucky though with just a warning cause it could of been worse...why the hell isn't HBO going after the uploaders, not the downloaders??

Anyway if your downloading Curb or any other HBO show for that matter be extreamly cautious! I think there using entrapment tactics too...

Two words. Don't mean anything, I've just always liked the way these words sound. Peer Guardian.

Did anyone catch Larry on Sit Down Comedy with David Steinberg on TV land? Good show.

Edit:Just saw Thor and I now have a new appreciation for this show.

Larry:Wrestling is fixed.
Kids:What?

Lost it's real funny in the 3rd season. 4th season was so-so.

I am just waiting for Bill Maher to come back on HBO.

The final episode of Season 5 was a little weak and weird, espeically considering how strong the show usually is, but The Smoking Jacket, The Seder, The Ski Lift, The Korean Bookie... television that good doesn't happen by accident.

And of course, being able to greet my best bud with something new and funny from the always reliable in-jokes (like "CHICKEN TERRYAKI BOOOY! BWOK BWOK BWOK!") can rarely be beaten.

Thanks to HBO OnDemand, I've recently started watching the show, and I cannot believe I hadn't been watching it before. I've now watched Seasons 2, 3, 4, and parts of Season One(I thought Season One was a little eh when I first saw it), and now I'm watching the fifth season every day on HBO Comedy Channel. Yesterday, was "The Bowtie" and it was one of the funniest episodes ever.

I just love this show. Some of my favorite moments are in "Wandering Bear" when WB cured Cheryl's vagina and he comes up to her says "How is your vagina?" The look on Cheryl Hine's face is ridiculous. And I also loved the mundane-ness of the "house noise" situation in The Car Salesman. I think this show may have topped AD in my book.

Hmm, maybe it's the fact that it's newer. I'll go watch the last four episodes of AD Season 3 to cleanse myself.

BTW, I just watched Season 5, Episode 3 "The Christ Nail", some of it was predictable("It was a little contrived") but I still thought it was a hilarious episode. I like the weird quirky surreal feeling this season apparently has(God leaving Larry 5 dollars under his pillow, Larry's divine intervention at the beginning of the season, what I've heard about "The End" episode).

I'm desperately waiting to see "The Ski Lift"(it airs Thursday on HBO Comedy Channel). I saw a few clips on Youtube and it looks to be the second coming of "The Doll"

Well, "The Ski Lift" will air Sunday apparently. I was wrong on it's airdate. Today, I watched "Kamikaze Bingo". I rate the episodes in the season so far:

1. The Bowtie
2. The Christ Nail
3. Kamikaze Bingo
4. The Larry David Sandwich

I like this show, I have a couple of seasons on dvd, but its too formulaic to approach the greatness of AD, thats for sure. As I said, its good though, you can't go wrong with a Basil Fawlty character making things worse for himself at every turn :D
