30 Rock

There are shows other than Arrested Development? Really?

Postby Pont » April 11th, 2008, 1:28 am

Slightly weak, I thought.

More to the point, they seem to have stolen a few things from the Office in this episode.
(The Alliance, the re-sorbed fetus).
They usually take an episode or two to get going again, so hopefully we'll get some better ones in the coming weeks.
The alliance is a pretty standard reality show cliche, which this episode was largely based around making fun of, and The Office hardly came up with the re-sorbed fetus. I doubt that the 30 Rock writing staff set out to intentionally steal such minor things. They simply wrote a couple of jokes about the same subject. It happens.
Anyway, new episode was kinda meh. Aside from the joke Pont just mentioned, and
Pete dialing his own line
, I don't recall laughing much. Upon rewatching, I enjoyed it a little more since I noticed a bunch of parallels between MILF Island and the TGS staff's situation which went over my head the first time, but it was still a pretty average episode. Let's hope they can improve - the first few episodes this season were absolutely brilliant.

Ah, that's the warm, drowsy feeling I remember. Great episode. I especially liked
Jack as Nixon and Toofer as Sammy Davis Jr., and Tim Conway calling Conan a sad lesbian.
Good show.

Man, last week's episode was awesome. I laughed the whole way through, especially towards the end with the overly dramatic opera music and Dr. Spaceman wearing a cape for some reason. This show's at its best when it's just completely bizarre.

Of the episodes I've seen, last week's was definitely the best. I think I might have to go and buy Season 1 of this show. Next up: The Office (US)
PS: I swear this time, Jar.

Yea, My brother told me the ending was supposed to be a parody of Amadeus. It was so hilarious.

I downloaded Season 1 earlier today and I just finished seeing the 12th episode a little while ago.
Since I've already seen all of Season 2 on Hulu, I already know the outcome of the whole Jack and Lemon relationship.
But based on this episode alone, I saw some potential for them to develop it into one of those will they/won't they sort of things.
I guess it wouldn't fit in with the whole scope of the show.
Anywho, nice to see Isabella Rossellini and Paul Reubens in this episode.
Really growing to like this show a lot.

Re: "Sandwich Day"

If there's a better show on television, I have yet to find it. Week after week I'm astounded by its constant evolving and unmatched inventiveness and comedy. This is by far one of the better episodes too, juggling so many story lines so adeptly, and being hilarious the whole way through. I love The Office too, and its silly to compare them, but I honestly can't think of another show besides Arrested Development where I'm this suprised and delighted every week.

Yesterdays episode was probably one of the best of season 2. Everyones storyline was hilarious and they connected with all of the other ones in a subtle way.

Seeing Liz Lemon in that little red number made me think things, guys.
Unholy things.

Loved last nights episode. I think it's probably better than the season 1 finale. All the storylines were hilarious but I especially loved the scene with Keneth running through the building trying to turn in the form.

Best part of the episode:
Cooter opeing up the box to find that they're all pen caps.
I dunno, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the Season 1 finale. It felt far too rushed - which is understandable given that they lost a few episodes due to the writer's strike - but still...

The Cooter scenes were hilarious though, but I'm a bit dubious over Liz's new baby storyline. Normally shows turn to bleep once they go down that route... *cough*Scrubs*cough*

Yeah, I thought Liz had the weakest storyline out of them all but Jack and Kenneth's storylines more than made up for it.

I didn't realise it was the finale until I had watched it and came on here to see what you guys thought.

Anyway, I thought it was pretty solid overall. Dennis was great as always, I loved Donny popping up again, and I thought the political stuff with Jack was really well done (especially the
Gay-Bomb
making them
'totally gay-bones'
for each other).

Again, though, it's the little touches that elevate 30 Rock beyond an average sit-com. I thought the flashback to the
Moscow Olympics training camp
was excellent, although the fact I have a soft-spot for
moustaches
probably made it funnier than it should have been.
