the Killers

Does anyone like the Killers. I finally got around to buying Hot Fuss and it is phenomonal. Its one of those rare CDs where I love every song on it. Its good stuff!!
It is believed that AIDS was originally contracted from the monkeys, no not the band, but the animal. And we just wanted to deal with that issue. Just changing the attitude from 'eww AIDSy' to make it like 'ahh fun monkey disease'

It's cool. I like the fact people are still making good pop and people are still buying it, but I don't think it's phenomenal. It has a couple of great tracks though, like Mr. Brightside and Smile Like You Mean It.

It's fun stuff. I'm kind of surprised at how popular they are, though. It's SO much better than most pop/rock that hits it big now.

They aren't that good live. Although, after seeing Muse live, no band seems good anymore.

<gasp!> I love the Killers! And Mr. Brightside, despite it being one of the most overplayed songs in the history of the universe, is one of my favorites! And Smile Like You Mean it gets stuck in my head every single day...which is good.

Muse must be insane live. I'm jealous.

I actually didn't like Hot Fuss the first few times I heard it (I liked a few tracks but thought that the rest kind of blended into each other), but I really like it now. I still think that the album could have been just a tad more upbeat - there's a lot of emo new-wave and lots of really innovative stuff, but I would have liked maybe one or two more tracks with the same "stickiness" as Somebody Told Me.
Note to self: You are now an Andre Braugher fan.

I don't get why they're headlining big festivals ahead of bands like Arcade Fire.

And they're just so... contrived...

I was at Download Fest in Cali, and the lead singer must've been reading his teleprompter backwards... after playing a radio single, the crowd cheered and he said "I'll take that as a yes." The cheering died down and then awkwardly he said "You guys like what you're hearing?"

Sure I can snap along as I listen to their catchier songs. I can't stand to look at the contrived image. Pretty boy mascara model and Joe Perry wish-he-was.

For Dancing, I'll take The Faint, and Maximo Park's "Apply Some Pressure"

There's so much new-wavey electro-fun music out there that's not nearly as self important... more FUN! who's tried Futureheads? :)

Futureheads are good. I like the Killers. But I prefer the Bravery. Hot Fuss was good, until the last three tracks which I don't like at all.

for some reason i know some baffling trivia about the killers. it's complicated and confusing, and once you know it, you can't unknow it. so this is your chance to stop reading before its too late

ok. apparently, they've modeled themselves after a fake band from some new order video called true faith. 'the killers' in this video were supposed to be ironic or something. but the killers (the ones that actually exist) intentionally named themselves after this hypothetical band because they think they're a form of perfection.

i've seen maybe two seconds of this video and all i saw was a man painted red, crouching and holding a beachball. there was a yellow guy and a blue guy there too. they might've been playing leapfrog. it was kinda like the blue man group. in conclusion the killers are incomprehensible

i stated this in the "catchy songs" thread and feel it is appropriate here too...

when you listen to the song "all the things that i've done," close your eyes and think of buster bluth throughout the song.

it's pretty crazy...

I'll have to try that sometime.

The only Killers song I like is 'Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll', the song consistently slated by critics as their worst. I think it's an amazing track. As for the rest rest of their stuff, it's so-so...not really my kind of thing
