#117: Justice Is Blind

From whence it came

Postby Madnana » July 23rd, 2005, 2:55 am

When Michael throws a bible at Maggie Lizer and the bailiff takes him away, Michael says "That was my plan, what do you got?" that line cracks me up everytime.. perfect delivery!

...and then George Sr. attempts to escape--it's such a throwaway too, it's all in the background
What is wrong with you?

I guess this would either be Steve Holt or Michael's wife. I'm leaning toward Steve Holt.

I thought it would be Gob's wife...they don't really bring the possibility of Gob having children until "Best Man For the Gob" and then they mention it again when Gob is trying to persuade Buster to climb the wall in season two...he says something about "your children, your children's children, and any children that I might have out there." So I don't think it's Steve.

But still, it's not unlike AD to set things up that far in advance. And I doubt the prosecutor would've known about Gob's wife yet - hadn't they only been married for a day or so at the time?

but the prosecutor seemed to know that the bluths' relationship with marta was over. and that was like only four episodes before this one.

Don't forget Ms. Baerly!
A comet, of course, is a frozen body of ice and dust formed 4.6 billion years ago. Or created 6000 years ago, depending on whether or not you're wrong.

True, but we have no idea how much time passed between those 4 episodes. Gob got married DURING all this - you would've thought it had taken them at least a few days to find out about it. Or maybe they knew about the wedding itself, but not his wife's identity? But then that'd defeat the purpose of the photo in the first place...

I still think it's either Oscar or Tracy.

Holy bible

Postby dormant25 » December 18th, 2005, 2:58 am

Did anyone else notice this? (One of the most brilliant things AD writers have put in):

Lindsay's group fights against the ten commandments outside the court. Inside the defendants swear with the Bible, and also it is mentioned prominently (throwing it at Maggie, she holding it as the "touch of the Bible that gave me sight"...) and the "Church against the State" argument is so subtlely brought out - that the groups that are fighting against aren't actually fighting for the right causes!

It seems to me that this is a brilliant trick by the AD writers.

Ping irony

Postby oystershucker » January 2nd, 2006, 11:44 am

not sure what the overlap b/w Seinfeld and AD fans are here, but did anyone notice that the actor who played Ping, the Chinese food delivery guy on Seinfeld, was helping Maggie L. study for her LSATs?

I thought it was ironic because on that Seinfeld episode (Season 4, "The Virgin"), Ping hires a lawyer to sue Elaine (played by JLD) because he alleges that he hit a parked car while riding his bike because Elaine jaywalked.

if that was indeed an intentional Seinfeld reference by the AD crew, I am amazed at the attention to detail!

yes i wondered about that myself. i am sure the serendipity during the casting process is what led to the two actors being on the scene. Do u think its weird that the judge is called Ping also in the same eposide????

Okay this is probably painfully obvious, but when Barry says his date works two jobs he means a prostitute and a cop. Which explains how he was arrested. Also I love it when Maggie asks "Is there somebody here?" Tobias shakes his head no.
