#308: Making a Stand

The final countdown?

Very impressed. This was the first episode my roommates have seen, and they loved it too.

I didn't like the two erection jokes--they seemed a bit too low-brow--but everything else was perfect.

I did predict Buster's last lesson, though, I must admit, Michael's lesson caught me off guard.

I thought this was a great improvement from last week, perhaps the best episode of the season. I enjoyed the photo montages, thought they were hilarious, especially at the end with the "Yellow Boat" song. It's good to see the show introduce new things. This is a fine example of what I will now call "good callback use", in which the reference is not merely just a reference for a reference's sake but it actually has some use for the current plot of the show, good episode.

Yeah, for some reason I almost expected a hospital scene after Michael fell off the balcony, it's kindof funny how I almost expected him to get hurt.

I absolutely loved this episode. I had surgery today so I was hoping for a good laugh tonight and surely enough I did. I just about laughed the sutures out of me. I loved all the Buster shorts attached to the brother fight DVD's. I can't wait to watch this one again. Thanks mitch for making another classic episode of AD.

I swear, when I saw the Mitch was writing the episode, I literally shouted "Yes!"
Lindsay: I've always been passionate about nature.
Michael:You're wearing ostrich skin boots.
Lindsay:Well I don't care about ostriches.

He totally needs to write every episode. That's not asking to much, right??

I just rewatched it. Loved the opening scene with Tom getting his glasses smashed and GOB's "bonus" reaction to that. He's still seeking revenge on Tom. Oh and who's the hottie behind Michael in that opening scene? Distracted me the first time I watched that scene. He's probably not old enough to play Topher Grace's father...

i was extremely pleased with this weeks episode after getting a little scared by last weeks. its so good to see AD going back to some of its roots. i can basically find nothing wrong with this ep, except george being back under house arrest threw me off for a bit. personally, i loved the photo montages. like someone said before, conan does the same sort of thing, and there was an old mad tv skit like it too that always cracked me up. i feel so gullible but i got fooled twice by the end  those bluth boys really know how to teach lessons. perhaps the best of the season so far
Lucille: Because Buster’s your brother and I’m not going to leave him home alone with all this j-u-i-c-e around.

Buster: I can spell, Mom. You spelled “juice.”

Lucille: Oh, you’re so brilliant. Let’s see you find it.

i agree with everyone who said the callbacks were good in this one. cirsumvrent! i especially loved the music during the montages, was that yellow boat song a schwartz original? he did a good job imitating the beatles, after all, who could afford them?

In the interest of full disclosure, there is a picture floating around in my family of my grandmother post-cosmetic surgery (one of her many), and it's just as horrifying as Gangee.

In fact, we speculate that the reason my father doesn't think AD is that funny is that Lucille hits a little too close to home.

True story - her dying words to me were, "Now are you EVER going to get married?" I was 24.

Awesome! Very funny episode, I love Buster's lesson. I really liked last weeks episode too, actually I love evry episode. For those who were skeptical after last week, J.Walter Wetherman has a lesson for you:

THATS WHY YOU NEVER DOUBT A GREAT SHOW!

GENIUS.

Loved the picture montage (and the yellow "boat" song.)

Also loved Steve Holt in this episode.

"Dip it in what?! Dip it in WHAT?!"

And THAT's why you let Mitch Hurwitz write the episodes.

Amen, I Got A Stew Going!

I do agree with the opinions that some of you have built this show up so much that the tiniest imperfection ruins the whole episode (or even season) for you. Just enjoy it while you still can, and next year you can rip apart every episode of "Skating With the Stars."

Never in my life did I imagine that I would be quoting Terry Bradshaw on a fake newspaper dedicated to a comedy featuring Bob Loblaw, mammal eating seals, and analrapists, but Bradshaw once said that Pittsburgh fans look back on their Superbowl years and think that Pittsburgh won every game by 50 points.

They didn't win every game, and certainly not by 50 points, but they did win the Superbowl. Four times.

And I liked the picture montages.

Dang, I was going to say that. Great episode. Maybe the best of the season, and potential top ten. Glad to see Steve Holt back. If the show returns next season i'd love for him to become a regular.

Good stuff.

It was probably the best episode of Season 3, but I just rewatched all of Season 3 today and I realized it's a heck of a lot better than I thought it was while watching it gradually (as it aired).

I need to rewatch to decide if it's top 10 or not, feels like it is though.

I don't think GOB's new girlfriend is Ann, cause apparently the girl who plays Ann is filming a different show and won't be on AD anymore. Possibly Eve Holt, I think they are/were definitely gonna go deeper with it, hopefully the cutback hasn't put that story on the backburner.

My favourite line of the night, from the groundlings painter: "so is it unscripted, like curb?"
