I think generally most people prefer the first season - I gotta say though, personally I prefer the second. Although there are some questionable episodes within the middle there.

But really i don't think you can compare, both seasons are brilliant in their own ways.

I personally like Season 2 more than 1, though Season 3's going very well so far - it's pretty much in the same vein as Season 2 for the most part. At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preferance. Here are the key differences between the seasons:

SEASON ONE:
Has more of a documentary-like approach, more realistic.
The humour is more subtle, there are less jokes but the jokes they do go for are usually ones that'll make you laugh hard.
A little foreshadowing, fairly easy-going pace.
Less complicated storylines.
The narration is usually just left to explaining what's happening and setting up scenes.
A lot of episodes aren't self-contained, but you can still start watching from any episode and pick up on it easily.
More episodes, and the continuity is spot-on (though only if you watch it in DVD order).

SEASON TWO:
Less of a documentary-like approach, less realistic.
The humour is less subtle, episodes are packed with jokes - you'll laugh more, but you won't laugh as hard as you did at Season 1.
More foreshadowing, very fast-paced.
Some very complicated storylines (sometimes an episode takes a repeat viewing or two just to understand it).
The narrator butts in a lot more, and is presenting his lines in a more comedic way rather than an explanatory way.
The storylines within the episodes are more self-contained, but you basically need to see Season 1 before this due to the high amount of call-backs, pay-offs and self-references.
Less episodes, and the continuity goes a bit bad towards the end of the season (no matter what order you watch them in).

So, each season has good and bad aspects, but they usually even out in the end, and both are very watchable. I'd say Season 1 is aimed more at general viewers, while Season 2 was aimed more at the fans - and since I'm a pretty hardcore fan, I really appreciated Season 2. Still, I love every season, there's just a minor preferance to that.

Anyone willing to put their head on the block and go for Season 3?

I don't think anyone is willing to do that, Pump. I think the thing with season 3 , coupled with the huge cutback, is that the writers from the previous 2 seasons went on to other things. After that, a whole new team of writers had to be hired and because of that, I think it took a while for them to really hit their stride.

That said, there have been some great episodes this season and I'm thankful that we even got a third season.

Personally, I have a hard time choosing between season one and two. Maybe I'm just burnt out on season 1, but the slower pace doesn't seem to be able to compete with season 2's fast pace. Don't get me wrong, some of my favorite episodes are in season one ("Bringing Up Buster", "Pier Pressure", "Top Banana"), but there are also some that I think aren't that great at all ("My mother, the Car", "Whistler's mother", and one or two others). Same thing with season 2 though...

All in all, I'm still not sure which I like better. I guess it really depends on what kind of mood I'm in.

How's that for fence sitting?

I think season 6 will be the best.

See what I did there?

Well, I think the final four episodes will decide where this lands for me, but I'd have to say that out of all the seasons - on average, Season 3 has given me the most laughs.

I agree, personally, I liked Season 2 the best, mostly for it's amazing run from The Maggie episodes on of just perfect comedy, and Season 3 seems to be following the same formula, and it's given me a lot of laughs. If the final four stay on par with the rest of Season 3, it will most likely be my favorite.

Well, Season 3 did give us Bob Loblaw, so that's gotta count for something. But honestly, I love all 3 seasons equally. I don't like to pick favorites.

*later, at Klimpy's, after a few glasses of Cloud Mir...*

I don't particularly care for Season 2.

Check out Frightened Inmate #2's "retro" blog. It's not quite Bob Loblaw's Law Blog... but what is?

Season 4 is my favorite! All the great memories

footage not found
Michael: Who’s Steve Holt?
Maeby: He’s just the hottest guy in school. And he’s won three years in a row.
Michael: So then, he’s more popular than George Michael?
Maeby: Well, that’s like comparing apples and some fruit nobody’s ever heard of.
