Correct episode order

Postby banana3 » April 29th, 2005, 7:37 am

Ok, after rewatching some season 1 episodes I'm curious on whether the following episodes should be re-ordered. I haven't seen any indication online that they were shown out of order or anything so it's a little puzzling.

107 - In God We Trust
108 - My Mother the Car
109 - Storming the Castle

107 has Buster dating Lucille 2 at the pageant. 108 has Buster avoiding Lucille 2 then kissing for the first time. 109 has them dating again.

107 has George Sr.'s escape attempt in the God costume. 109 has George Sr. in the hole for an escape attempt. I know Zuckercorn said they got them to call his escape for freedom religious expression, but his ineptitude could explain away why George Sr. was in the hole anyways.

It seems to me that the episodes make more sense if arranged 108, 107, 109. Does anyone know if this is the actual order? Or if I'm missing something?

Looks like that is the intended order - look:

7. production ARR-107, aired: 14-Dec-2003 - In God We Trust
8. production ARR-108, aired: 21-Dec-2003 - My Mother The Car
9. production ARR-109, aired: 04-Jan-2004 - Storming the Castle

----
the production codes are all in order, and they were originally aired in order, so I'm guessing they were meant to be this way.

Also, weren't Buster and Lucille 2 going out in My Mother the Car? Buster is on her balcony and then runs through the glass door when he spots Lucille 1.

Right. Buster avoids Lucille (misses the surprise dinner party because he was avoiding her), goes to Lucille to try to tell her she's got the wrong idea, ends up kissing her, then the jumping window scene:

Lucille 2: Buster, do you remember when we were kissing last night?
Buster: It was a wild, wild ride. But is this something we can do? Is this something society will allow?
Lucille 2: I don’t care what other people think. My God, for the first time in years, I felt like I was standing on solid ground.
Buster: You know, my panic attacks have decreased. I feel confident. I’m feeling proud even.
Laughing.
Buster: I mean, for the first time in my life...
Gasping. (jumps through window)
Lucille 2: I’ll call Dr. Miller.

Sounds like a conversation at the beginning of their relationship. Compare with narrator description early in the previous episode: "In God We Trust"

Narrator: This concerned Buster, as he’d been secretly dating his mother’s best friend and chief social rival, Lucille Austero.

it could be that the producers just don't care about linear storylines: just look at how convoluted the buster army stuff was

See, but storyline-wise, they have it right on the DVD, which is where they usually try to fix all of their airing issues. The DVD went in the order:

My Mother, the Car (Buster avoids, turns down, kisses, and starts a relationship with Lucille 2)
In God We Trust (Buster is secretly dating Lucille 2 and Lucille sees them)
Storming the Castle (Lucille is trying to break up Buster and Lucille 2)

That seems about right. I think they fixed any airdate and production issues on the DVD, and I think if they feel like it needs it again, they'll do it with the second season as well (probably messing with the order of Sword of Destiny, Meet the Veals, and Spring Breakout).

That's it. Completely forgot that My Mother the Car opens disc 2.
