Monopoly houses is a good idea I think, although it may lead to a lot of the pieces being missing....oh well, that's the price we have to pay I guess.

Maybe little Monopoly houses?

How about bananas? I'm sure there are sites where we could order massive quantities of bananas and have them sent to Fox in the name of Arrested Development fans.

Or maybe we could each send them a pair of handcuffs (as in Arrested).

I really like this idea. It plays in well with the show and it'll be pretty obvious what we're trying to do (I had to think about how the monopoly pieces tied in). Would be better if we could send them frozen, but the logistics on that probably wouldn't work.

I vote for bananas!

Maybe we should have an official poll after we get a few more ideas out there. I'm sure it'll look better if we're organized and all send the same thing in. Editor, I'll let you take care of that, I'm not sure exactly how to do it.

i'm sure all of this attention that we focus on saving the show will make an impact over at the network. i hope all of this nonsense can get worked out over at FOX, I'm sure one week into May they will pull that damn American Dad because of its inate crappiness. hopefully by then Arrested will then be saved from this turmoil

I spent the entire day drafting and re-drafting my strongly worded letter (I will admit that I wrote it in artifical light). I literaly feel sick at the thought of this. I know that sounds melodramatic, I know the shows not getting cancelled but this reduction of episodes shows the the regard (or lack there of) that Fox has for this show.

How bout we send Fox some beezzzzzzzz. You know they like the honey.

ETA: Heads up, David Cross is on Jimmy Kimmel tonight. I personally haven't seen it yet, but some east coasters on the TWoP boards have said that David said they have shut down production on account of Fox reducing the number of shows.

This is all so depressing.

I believe this is the first time I feel so strongly about a show being cancelled that I'm actually gonna write a snail mail letter to the President of FOX (After this weekend).

There are so few respectable shows left on television and if they cancel this show, I will lose a lot of faith in good T.V.

Excuse my language when I say, THIS IS SO bleep UP!!!

I got another number for Fox that we can call. It's the viewer comment line. It only has people answer it during the day, so maybe a call during the day, and a voicemail (which is what they have after-hours) a day from everyone...??? Anything will help. Oh, and apparently (although I didn't see it) David Cross was on Kimmel tonight and just said that he just found out the show was cancelled today. I am REALLY hoping he's just messing around...(he has before) but man, my heart about stopped when I heard that. So here's the number...call now and call often!!!!

I vote for Monopoly houses. Bananas seem like they could get messy and perishable and we don't want to piss them off. Say the word and I'll buy these right now.

Bottom line, we have to do SOMETHING. And NOW.

I'm with the Monopoly houses or/and fake bananas. I like the fake bananas cuz it's more broad and can sum up most of Arrested while Monopoly just refers to the first episode but they can both be good.

We should all mention Seinfeld in our letters

Postby Mr Banana Grabber » February 10th, 2005, 5:53 am

Seinfeld was not a ratings hit during it's first two seasons BY FAR. But NBC stuck with it, and today it is considered by MANY to be the GREATEST sitcom of all time.

So my point is if we all mention this in our letters, it may help convince FOX that it has the next Seinfeld on its hands. The shows mirror each other in many ways. Most notably it's innovation, it's excellent use of guest stars, and it's repeated references to previous events in the series. Perhaps pointing out these similarities will ring a bell with someone in charge.

Anyway, I'm not hearing a death knell for this show YET. I believe that with the history FOX has had, if a show was not doing well, they would yank it off of the schedule completely, even if episodes were shot, done, and paid for.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that that one show "Skin" that fox had was cancelled after two or three episodes, even though they had about 3 more shot. Fox took the hit and got it off the air. Don't you think they would do the same with AD?

Maybe it's the optimist in me, but I see something positive in that Fox is letting AD continue to air. Right now, my gut tells me they'll be back for a third season, but my gut is also very hungry ;)

I agree with The Lovely Laura -- bananas are definitely the most emblematic of the show. But real ones are perishable. I originally thought it would be difficult to get fake bananas (e.g. the plastic ones they have in model homes), but I admit I haven't looked for them yet. How about a banana campaign with any kind of banana? Besides plastic, it just occurred to me that there are stuffed bananas, like the little cat/dog toys.

Monopoly houses is really inspired too... and you could send in the 'Get out of jail' card too. ;)

Just for completeness, here are some other ideas that have been bandied about:

* popsicle sticks -- as in a frozen banana's "two sticks". You could write little messages on them. I don't know, "This is a world without frozen bananas." Leave banana/fudge stains on it.

* mini bottles of alcohol -- label with "Cloud Mir" if desired.

* brown bags -- like "Dead dove. Do not eat."

I'll set up a poll later today. Just want to make sure we have most of the ideas out there!

I sent an email, called the #, and wrote a letter. With my letter I enclosed a popsicle stick (an unused one of course ), in which I took a label maker, set the size to 1, and printed out:

"I think you've made a huge mistake."

Which I then wrapped plastic wrap around, to make sure it stayed on.

(Only day off for the whole week is today. I have time to kill.)
