Make a donation to Save Our Bluths

Postby editor » February 10th, 2005, 3:40 pm

Thanks to the generous Arrested Development fans, we met our initial fundraising goal in under 20 hours!

Our initial goal is to send a shipment of banana stress balls to Gail Berman and other Fox executives. For upcoming campaigns, we will broaden our campaigns to include television critics, talk show hosts, and advertisers; as well as fund local events to raise awareness of Arrested Developments -- basically, one big media blitz!

If you want to help by making a donation to fund our upcoming Arrested Development campaigns, please visit our fundraising page. Details of the campaigns will be made available in the forums.

If you want to help by volunteering, please visit the Volunteer thread.

If you want to help publicize our campaigns, please refer to us as SaveOurBluths.com. The fundraising page will always be SaveOurBluths.com/donate.

If you have other great ideas, please feel free to post in our forums or contact us!

Thanks! If we all work together, we can ensure Arrested Development is a success for many more years to come.

Original message follows.

Okay, seems like we're more or less headed towards making a shipment of custom-printed banana stress balls to Fox. A quick google show that there may be other vendors as well.

I've set up an initial goal of $1,000 which would enable us to make a shipment of 500 bananas to Gail Berman's office.

The Amazon page will let you track our progress. Amazon takes a cut of $0.30 + 2.9% for each donation, which is what paypal would charge for a similar account that would accept credit cards.

Make a donation at amazon.

Due to Amazon limits for "fraud prevention," you may receive an error message saying that we cannot receive funds. We are working on alternate solutions, but in the meantime please try again at a later time. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your support of Arrested Development and our efforts.

OK, I made my donation!

I'm also going to e-mail Kristin at E! Online, so she can mention our campaign in her Friday column.

Hey- I just registered here, but I've been lurking for a while. I just donated some money- thanks for setting that Amazon site up!

I also suggest that we send that link to Defamer- that's how many people found out about the reduction of the episode order, plus they posted up stuff about David Cross today. Plus, they already said something about starting a letter writing campaign. They may plug it by putting up a link.

TV Guide has this to say...

Postby Gobby » February 10th, 2005, 4:48 pm

DEVELOPMENT ISSUES: Rumors are swirling that Fox has cut short Arrested Development's season, trimming its episode order from 20 to 18. Not so, says a source close to the show. "Nothing's definite," maintains the insider. "There's two more weeks before [the network] has to make a final decision [on how many episodes it wants]. In either case, it's not canceled." It better not be.

Go to TVguide.com for details.

I just threw in $15 for the cause. This show cannot be taken away from us! We can do this.

I am on board! I think the banana stress ball idea is brilliant. I really hope this works. I left a message at the Fox hotline; I'm afraid that I sounded horribly self-conscious (I cannot leave spontaneous messages on answering machines; I'm like Lucille 2.0, I have write it out and read it). But I'm guessing it's not so much about what we say but the sheer volume of the AD fans complaints.

I will pay as soon as soon as I get home (not on secure computer right now).

Do you think we'll be able to get the bananas to them before they make the decision?

:( I swear that if I had a credit card, I'd donate. Unfortunately, I'm only 16 and too young to own my own credit card...

If someone wants to be extremely generous and donate money in honor of me, I'd love you forever.

LadyofLiteracy, I 'd be stunned if the stress ball thing could get done before Fox finalizes its decision on the number of AD episodes for the season (which it's probably already done, if we're hearing something about it). However, I certainly think a customized order could get sent out in time to influence decisions on next season's renewal.

The banana stress balls are really brilliant - highly visible and tactile, the kind of things people pass around. I've put my $20 bucks in. We need to be sure the donation link gets publicized on other boards. AD fans can do this. [GOB] COME ON! [/GOB]

I'm getting the word out to all fans or possible fans or whoever, but the TWoP boards appear to be down at the moment...
