#115: Staff Infection

From whence it came

Postby so's your face » May 8th, 2005, 9:38 pm

forgive me if it's already been discussed but i haven't yet seen it mentioned...

but my lovely wife pointed out, shortly after lindsay says,"is this the tiny town from 'footloose'?", that buster and GOB's game of chicken is remarkably similar to the game of chicken in "footloose" when they square off with tractors.

anyone else catch that?

They square off with tractors in Footloose? Wow, I'd always heard that the movie was different than the play, but I had no idea...
Surely Fünke, rolling 4 treasurer. I would run 4 it, but I can’t.

on the subject of boom mics and camera men in the shot, i would have to say that it was on purpose. it is supposed to be in the style of a documentary. and if it was a mistake, that's the excuse the editors of the show could use.

but more importantly, tobias's line in response to white power bill:

White Power Bill: Who is this little (bleep)?
Tobias: Well, it’s been quite a while since anybody’s called me a tyke...

while watching this episode on my lunch break at work, i finally realized that white power bill says "kike."

hilarious.
What about macaroni... let me finish... salad?

I was wondering what that bleeped word was myself. Derr... I are not so smart.

White power Bill says kike? I just finished watching that episode like 2 minutes ago. I've always assumed he said c--k. Thanks for that info.
He said some wonderful things.

I just noticed something with GOB... he has a hard time getting through the ditches at the construction site on his Segway. Later, when he's working at the site, he has a hard time pushing a wheelbarrow out of a ditch!

OMG I noticed that too! I love all the little parallels running through this show. This ep was one of my favourites right off the bat - I've only seen the first season on DVD, but after seeing this ep I distinctly remember seeing ads on TV showing GOB doing his chicken dance. At the time, I was thinking "what the f@%k is that, which I should have taken as a sign to WATCH THE DAMN SHOW! Where was I going with this? Oh yes, this chicken dance in particular is very very funny.

i just finised watching this episode and i can confirm the boom mic sighting noted in the first post. also, in an earlier shot, it looks as if the front of the other camera gets into the shot for a moment. i had to look really close to catch it though.
i absolutely love buster in this episode. i cant keep myself from laughing when it shows the black and white snapshots of his trip to Catalina. the look on his face is priceless. and later when hes in the copy room and gets flashbacks... ha, "flash"backs (sorry, just realized thats kind of funny).

"Bob!" (baahh)

and of course the classic "chickens don't clap!!"
definately one of my favorte episodes.

Technically, since the show is a 'mockumentry', a boom mike is not an error. :)
"Isn't he the best?"
"He was far from the best"

I'm a cop. I've got keen instincts. And right now, my instincts are telling me that... I don't know what the hell is going on.

staff infection is another awesome episode... my fav parts :

1. when michael goes to find GM at the banana stand, and theres an arial shot of the scene and you can see a small Hello! near Annyong, indicating him saying Annyong -- clever as hell.

2. how in the world did Lucille know to look for Lupe at the construction site since she and her family was supposed to be in Catalina... lol

3. the feds infiltrating the Bluth office was hilarious... when they were trying to escape from GM...

Michael: "I've been dying to spend some time with you."

GM: "That's okay. I know how much you care about me. Unfortunately, so does the federal government."

LMAO I love that this is GM's first mention of the feds, too.

The best part is when they all ran away from GM, and then they just pressed the elevator button and just stood there. Then when GM looks, they all go for the stairs.

"I've got a clean shot!"

"Nooo, no no no!"
