#111: Public Relations

From whence it came

Postby Premiere » May 25th, 2005, 5:29 pm

Michael has the best pissed off looks at Tobias. When Tobias call GM a kiss ass, Michael gives him this hilarious look which he gave an even more pissed-off version of on Amigos, after Tobias made fun of his wife's death. They need to make that look into a poster.

when tobias was like "oh i'm sorry your wife is dead."
you can tell jason is trying SO HARD not to crack up, i think that's what makes the expression so much more memorable.
GOB: Wow, it won't be easy to win a race against myself. Of course, if anyone can do it, I can.

GOB in wheelchair

Postby Madnana » July 18th, 2005, 3:36 am

After GOB makes Earl Milford disappear, he calls Michael. When Michael shows up, GOB is in a wheelchair... I wonder if this is a subtle reference to his segway scooter. I guess we see this at the end of Key Decisions too.

I love when the reprters are talking to GOB, and he says "and don't edit this to make it look like I'm saying *on the news* I KILLED EARL MILFORD" This was one of my least favortie episodes but the more I watch it the more I like it. The same with all of them.
George Michael: Maybe it was the other George Michael, you know the singer/songwriter.

Michael: Yeah, that makes sense.

It was kindof like that Simpsons when Homer touched that woman's butt when going for the gummy bear. When he's having his interview, the footage is spliced so it looks like he touched her on purpose, but the clock in the background keeps changing times erratically, plus he's changing positions too. The GOB thing was like that, but not nearly as overdone.

i was just watching this episode again and i picked out some subtle things. when Micheal takes GM to the Milford school and is looking at the newspaper article about Lucille getting into a fight at the Klimpy's Family-Style Restaurant, theres another article on the page about a musician suing a restaurant over use of name. this has to be a little reference to the lawsuit brought against the show by a music group of the same name. the producers are so clever...
also, at the end when Lindsay is running after Jessie with a plate of food, i think someone yells out "Bluth fight", instead of food fight. that sort of amused me, making it seem like fights involving the Bluths are common occurences.
plus i just love Lucille's whole reaction to the Klimpy's incident. "If I still had money I'd buy a Klimpy's just to burn it to the ground!!" makes me laugh every time.
Lucille: Because Buster’s your brother and I’m not going to leave him home alone with all this j-u-i-c-e around.

Buster: I can spell, Mom. You spelled “juice.”

Lucille: Oh, you’re so brilliant. Let’s see you find it.

I feel like it's a reference to a character Will played in Third Watch(a wird guy in a wheelchair that sold drugs to some kids). With these incredible writers, you never know.

Bateman is the king of facial expressions.

oh, and something else i just remembered...
when GOB is at the retirement home and has the volunteer going into the Aztec tomb, he's explaining to him to slip behind the second pannel and stay quiet. in response, Earl Milford, who we don't know is Milford yet, holds his finger up to his mouth in a shh-ing way, just like in his portrait!
the writers are so awesome the way they throw in all the foreshadowing and parallel connections.

i like the other newspaper gag that reads "BUM GETS BALLOON" refering to the fact that GM gave the bum a balloon to go away without hurting his feelings...

I love GM here!

Jessie "Hi George Michael. Proud of yourself?"

GM "Yeah, actually. I got a bum away from the stand without hurting his feelings. That was pretty sweet."

Oh, the look on his face! He actually IS quite proud :D
A comet, of course, is a frozen body of ice and dust formed 4.6 billion years ago. Or created 6000 years ago, depending on whether or not you're wrong.

In that scene where Lindsay gets in a fight with Jessie, a man is heard saying something. You're right, it does sound like he yells 'Bluth fight' but the subtitles say 'food fight.' I dunno, it most definately sounds like 'Bluth fight'

I really like this episode, although I think the food fight is a bit ridiculous and over the top,but besides that its got some great lines.
