#218: Righteous Brothers

Why, Tracy? Why?

Postby littlesquish89 » August 31st, 2005, 10:22 pm

Sorry if this has been already said, but I think I may have a viable theory here.

Now it may just be me looking too much into this or me having my head against a 100 degrees furnace for an hour, but does anyone think that Tobias' "eating disorder" that forced him to "be on his knees in front of the toilet" could possibly be related to his internal bleeding that Gene Parmesean talked about in "Amigos"?

I think that something is wrong with Tobias, and I hope they flesh it out in Season 3. He did get knocked around a lot in Season 2, you gotta admit...

Yeah, he did have to go to the hospital a few times.

Then again, so did Michael. And GOB. And Buster ;)
I've switched usernames and am now 'Goofeth', so don't get confused.

This episode reminded me of a question I had from last season, does anyone know the name of the flamenco song played during the GOB/Michael fight scenes in this episode and "Beef Consommé"? I sent an audio clip of the scene to my spanish friend and she couldn't decipher (though I'm pretty sure she's prejudiced against all other spanish-speaking cultures, but what are you gonna do?).

Thanks!

I liked watching this episode without almost crying during it because it could be the last. This episode is so great. Franklin was superb, as always. I loved GOB singing to Michael, it was so sweet. And who didn't love it when GM and Maeby kissed. I can't wait until next season!
George Michael: Maybe it was the other George Michael, you know the singer/songwriter.

Michael: Yeah, that makes sense.

I loved it. They were going at it really "hot and heavy."

A little subtle thing I just picked up for the first time this afternoon.

OSCAR (to Buster): I'm so forgetful. I hope you don't get that from me.

then later, when GM enters the Model Home and Buster is frantically pacing:

BUSTER: Where's your Father? Oh, that's right. He's in prison.

This show continues to amaze.

Also they put another reference to Buster being forgetful as well. Right after Oscar said that, Buster touched his head with his prosthetic hand to check for fever. His hand of course had just been under an iron, and burnt Oscar.

The line after that is priceless, too.

Oscar: *with popcorn* Now I'm not sharing my Popsecret with you!

Buster: Pop...secret?

I loved the part when George is picking up Oscar with the stair car so Oscar can turn him in, but then we immediately are shown that he was instead intending to screw him over the whole time. The writers really love to mess with your emotions, I love it. Reminds me of the scene in Let Them Eat Cake when GOB is sobbing about "big bear" thinking George is dead, then we are shown the truth moments later.

Also, the final scene with GOB singing to Michael was so perfect...one of the rare AD moments when it actually is genuine love being displayed...

Whew...sooo close to Season 3 I can taste it...

This is definetely Will and Jason's episode. They dominate the show and have great chemistry. I have no idea why Jason didn't submit this for the Emmys, because if you consider the fact that Michael was in scenes with George Sr., GOB (especially), Tobias, and Kitty. No, George Michael, Maeby, Buster, Lucille(not sure) Lindsay. Great episode.
Lindsay: I've always been passionate about nature.
Michael:You're wearing ostrich skin boots.
Lindsay:Well I don't care about ostriches.

Jeffery Tambor already submitted this as one of his two Emmy tapes. I wonder if two actors from the same show can submit the same tape for their different catagories.

Did anyone notice the hilarity when a drunken Lindsay grabbed GM and he softly went "Oh my God!" with that horrified look. I think he's still uncomfortable with her from last season her wanting to "fill that role" LOL. I almost died laughing when Barry winked at the attorney guy. Then when Wayne showed the picture of GOB holding up Michael's face. My pop-pop seriously laughed ...he never laughs.

You see, I watched this episode with my "pop-pop" when it first aired and he'd never seen the show and I'm not sure what his comedic likes are but I caught him laughing a couple of times, though I don't think he got any of the jokes. He is kinda like George Sr. in a way, although I'm pretty sure he's never had a "nightly group clean". And Lindsay when she's drunk reminds me of my mom when she's sober. And my dad wore cutoff's in the 80s. So that's my family. Yep I'm moving to Phoenix.

He also laughed at "I see you wasted no time in filling my seat-hole." That's not something appropriate to laugh at with your grandfather. It was weird.

I love the GM and Maeby plot, when he closed his sock droor. Later when Maeby (who is my hero) kept editing the length of her movie to people. That's a nice appropriate joke to laugh at with your grandparent. ...And then GOB kissed George Sr. I love this show, it freaks out my whole family.

Best ...Episode ...Ever ?
Oh Boy! I got some looks on the bus cause of this!

I apologize profusely if this has already been asked/pointed out, but I didn't have time to go through all 28 pages.

When GOB knocks out George Sr. with the ether, he is then driving the stair car, resulting in him being photographed by a traffic camera with Michael's picture in front of his face...you all know this.

But where were they going?! GOB was doing Michael's dirty work for him to turn George Sr. in, but he ends up handcuffing him to a pipe under the model home, after which he escapes before he is crushed. So if GOB got him out of the attic and put him under the living room of the same house...why would he be driving?

EDIT: The transcript says he's going to drop off George on the police station steps. However, no mention is made of why he'd turned back. Perhaps we can just assume he was so distraught by Michael lying to him about the CD that he didn't want to go through with it?

Yeah, Gob was originally going to help out Michael by turning in George Sr, but decided to chain him to the pipe in the basement instead after discovering the CD. Makes sense.
