Lol I just realized that this song is in the first ever episode of AD. Right at the end when they are talking about how Lisnday and Tobais are going to be staying with them and Michael mentions that GM is going to have to share a room with Maeby.

Much thanks! I quickly downloaded this song from Leroy's Web site. Sidenote: I also downloaded "Final Countdown" on iTunes. I'm such an AD dork.
It was a love between two cousins that the world thought was wrong, but it was the world that was wrong.

I had a class tonight at the college that I'm taking night classes at, and my college professor invited me out to join her for coffee after class. The night class that I'm taking is all about the 80's influences on modern life, and while we were having coffee, I brought up the "Whatcha tryin to say me" song by Leroy.

Anyways, she said that the singer of the "Whatcha tryin to say me" song (Leroy) sang several theme songs of TV shows that were popular during the 80's, but that he went under different names.

She said that Leroy sung the theme song to the show "Mr. Belvedere". Also, she said that he sung a duet in the theme song to "Growing Pains", and that he sung the song in the opening credits of "Silver Spoons" and "Who's the Boss".

But the weirdest thing was when she said that Leroy sang along in the duet to the theme song of the show "Webster", and that the lyrics to that song were Satanic, but she said that they were Satanic in a very "subliminal" way... I'm curious now to listen to the theme song of Webster...

Here are the lyrics.

Set in my ways
losing track of the days
Only me to live for.
Had no need to give more
Than I wanted to.

Spending my time
just holding the line
Never getting caught up.
Love was never brought up
It’s not the thing to do.

It was you,
Then came you.
You made me leap without taking a look.
It was you,
Then came you.
You reeled me right in line, sinker, and hook.
Never thought forever was the best I could do.

Then came you.
It was you
Then came you.
It was you.
Me and you.
Then came you.

My guess is it's about living forever through a deal with satan. But it's not as easy to read as, say, American Pie.
"Isn't he the best?"
"He was far from the best"

I'm a cop. I've got keen instincts. And right now, my instincts are telling me that... I don't know what the hell is going on.

That woman is clinically bleeping insane, and now that I've read this, I must have at least 5 conversations with her on pop culture.

No kidding... I think she is insane. I met with her for lunch today, and I brought along some CD's that I bought a few years ago that have theme songs from popular TV shows from the 70's/80's/90's.

She said that the lyrics to the theme song "Sesame Street" are secretly supposed to be a reference to getting drunk... that the "Sesame Street" that they sing about seeking out in the lyrics is really supposed to be the high that you get from drinking alcohol. Also, she said that the lyrics to the theme song of "Charles in Charge" were written to deliberately have some serious Satanic meaning. She said that if you replace the name "Charles" with "Satan" everytime that it's sung in the song, it basically spells out the creed of Satanists. What a nut.

Gene Parmesan wrote:My guess is it's about living forever through a deal with satan. But it's not as easy to read as, say, American Pie.

Actually, that's pretty close... she said that the words "only me to live for" symbolizes the self-centeredness nature of the Satanic religion, and that the constant singing of the lyrics "then came you" refers to the high that a person gets when they let Satan into their life. Nuts...

Wow that's just plain insane, and she is very wrong. Leroy was probably still in grade school back in the 80's. I can tell you this... Leroy has had songs used in the following shows.

ALIAS (ABC)

FELICITY (WB)

THE DATING EXPERIMENT (ABC)

THE JOB (ABC)

ONCE AND AGAIN (ABC)

SUMMERLAND (WB)

films:

CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE DRAMA QUEEN (BUENA VISTA)

10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU (TOUCHSTONE)

CHAIN OF FOOLS (WARNER BROS.)

LAUREL CANYON (SONY PICTURES)

DRIVEN (WARNER BROS.)

LONE STAR STATE OF MIND (SCREEN GEMS)

NINE LIVES (MILLENNIUM)

This info is right off Leroys web site.

Take heed of those that say that anything is really satanic. Didn't we learn anything from the Proctor and Gamble stars-and-moon symbol scandal of the 80s? COME ON!

what was that other song, i think was in the pilot, for sure in one of the earlier episodes it was very 80s-ish and a few words i caught was "tears of an angel/ wings of a dove" or something similar to that... any help would be supremely appreciated and repaid with a coupon for 10 cents off of creamed corn at your local shoprite (special terms and conditions apply)
Tobias: Oh, come on, don’t leave your Uncle Teabag hanging.

George Michael: Please don’t call yourself that.

It was Cry Love (by John Hiatt, I believe, though I may be mistaken there), and it was used in Key Decisions.

Yes, it's John Hiatt. That's such a great song. I had never really paid that much attention to it, and then one day my favorite radio station played it and I was going nuts trying to figure out where I had heard it before. I finally figured it out, obviously.
Buster: Mom is becoming a little controlling.
Michael: What tipped you off? When she locked you out on the balcony again?
Buster: That was half my fault. I thought I saw a graham cracker out there.
Michael: You baited the balcony?
Lucille: Prove it.
