#301: The Cabin Show

The final countdown?

Photocopier Scene

Postby Some Wonderful Things » October 1st, 2005, 1:31 pm

I was just watching this episode for the 4th time and I noticed a joke I had missed before. When Lindsay's sitting on the copier she tells Michael she wants a Volvo and hands him the paper in her hand. Michael says "This is not a volvo..."

Of course it's the photocopy of her genitals. It's a vulva. Anybody else notice this?

Was the scene of Lucille beating Buster (pillows shaped as Buster) with the camera tripod a Bob Cane reference of some sort.

Man, does nobody actually read these threads? I made the Bob Crane connection a few pages ago.

Exactly, these threads are too long, its fine if people don't read all 30 pages of it before they post.

In case anyone was wondering, this has been de-throned as my favorite episode this season. It is now Forget-Me-Now.

OK, people, let's not snipe. At TWoP, it's a RULE that you have to read the last 15 pages or 15 days of posts on a thread, whichever is greater, before you post. Moderators can warn you if your posts show that you haven't. So it's not completely unreasonable that posters here might occasionally be surprised when people post without reading back through the thread first. We haven't instituted such a rule here because it's too much to enforce. However, as a courtesy to your fellow posters, it's nice to skim back through the thread and see if something's been addressed before you post it again. But, by the same token, if you see that someone posts something that's been addressed already, don't be rude about it. That's not the behavior that we're looking for here either.

The boy depicted in the statue IS Steve Holt! Compare their hairstyles... exactly the same! Same fringe, same sideburns. I know that the whole point of that shot was to re-create the statue, but I also remember someone earlier suggesting that perhaps the statue foreshadows someone finding Buster's hand (they suggested Annyong, since it was a boy in the statue). Maybe Steve Holt will find the hand?

you know, the line GOB says "some sons will do anything to make their father's proud" DOES sound like the kind of foreshadowing the show is notorious for.

I am watching The Cabin Show right now, and I noticed something that wasn't mentioned before. When they show Michael blowing off his promise to take GM to the cabin, the camerawork is done so it looks like the staircar is next to Michael, just like how that woman George Sr. was "nailing" was next to him. Good camerawork.

See, I knew the reference was something about that, but I didn't it was THAT.... I guess I'm too innocent. But I picked up on my Michael's tone...from a mile away......

During the falshbacks between Michael and George Sr. with George Sr. telling him they won't be going to the cabin. On the second flashback we see he's losing his hair (he has a small combover) and then on the next one a few years later we see he has a full head of hair. Although the quality on my VCR tape of it is questionable and it could be a hat but I don't think so.

It was a piece... A very bad one at that.

Watching Immaculate Election today I noticed something (i'm a bit slow). When lynsey, michael and gob are talking about GM's low self esteem and michael mentions thats why he doesn't like ann, Gob says something along the lines of 'that one gets pregnant, she stays pregnant' and then he says he knew a girl like that in high school but then denies it with a shifty look - this is EVE HOLT! he is talking about I presume.

I finally see how that is all linked up now - God I love this show!

Yeah, mentioned quite a few times in The Immaculate Election, especially given that we do find out Steve Holt is Gob's son at the end of that. There's also foreshadowing music played during these two lines:

"He's basically a young you..." and "THAT'S Steve Holt? Looks like a chick I did once in high school." You can piece it together well before The Cabin Show explains everything.

something that's been bothering me for a while is that... the 2 young michaels look so different from each other, and the other young michael, which I'm guessing is an older young michael? like the one for 1979, is kinda chubby and his attire is so un-michael-esk

i dunno, maybe it's just me, but i think the one from the 1st and 2nd season looks the most like Jason Bateman.
