Embarrassing songs you listen to

Hear anything good at the Wellness Convention?

Postby Cherith_Cutestory » October 13th, 2005, 5:45 pm

Yeah, I mostly listen to musical theater and classic rock, but I do love my odd songs, and my roommate always makes fun of me for these ones:

Q Lazzarus - Goodbye Horses (aka Buffalo Bills dance song in Silence of the Lambs)
Judy Collins - Send in the Clowns
Barry Manalow - Mandy and I Write the Songs
Hall and Oates - Rich Girl and Private Eyes
Presidents of the United States of America - Peaches
The Polyphonic Spree - Light and Day
Scisor Sisters - Take Your Momma Out
Sweet - Ballroom Blitz
Toto - Africa
Aisa - Heat of the Moment
Kelly Clarkson - Since You've Been Gone
Clay Aiken - Solitare
Billy Joel - We Didnt Start the Fire
Abba - Fernando
Rush - Spirit of the Radio (of Salesmen!)
38 Special - Hold On Loosely
Foreigner - Waiting For a Girl Like You

also More Than A Feeling is such a great song that NO ONE should be ashamed of liking it!
It is believed that AIDS was originally contracted from the monkeys, no not the band, but the animal. And we just wanted to deal with that issue. Just changing the attitude from 'eww AIDSy' to make it like 'ahh fun monkey disease'

That's some good memory of a Conan bit. I'm impressed.

It's not embarrasing only if Dwight sings it.
"Ryan started the fire!
Joe McCarthy, Richard Nixon, Studebaker, television
North Korea, South Korea, Marilyn Monroe!
Ryan started the fire!
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning!"

Well, it's kinda embarrasing when Dwight sings it.

That was so awesome. The way he sung it so fast and intense was hilarious. It's nice to at least have 'The Office' to fill a small part of the giant comedy void left by not having 'AD' for the next couple of weeks.

Im going to have to add my name to the Mandy lovers list
at camp everyone was singing the homer simpson version about "Mindy" and suddenly I cranked out a rendition in my very best Manilow voice starting from the first verse and everyone was like "OMG as if you know that".

I second that! And Nirvana thought so too: just listen to "More than a Feeling" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit"--it's uncanny how similar the guitars in the two choruses sound. (Which is not to knock Kurt Cobain, but...COME ON!)
You know, I might’ve been a little too believable...

I've been a huge Backstreet Boys fan since elementary school.

I'm not that embarrassed to say it (only when there are people around). I just saw them in concert last month, and it was my (counting fingers) fourth BSB concert.

Hmmm... what else can be embarrassing?
I like Billy Joel. I actually went through this huge Billy Joel phase last year. And I think I'm still in the 80's-pop phase I started in like 2002. Oh, and 90's music too. I can't tell you how many times I've walked home, quietly singing Matchbox 20 and Better Than Ezra in my head.

Basically, most of what I listen to is sort of embarrassing, but whatever. Music is a personal thing and I'll listen to whatever I feel like - too bad if it's not The Misfits or M.I.A. or whatever.
Note to self: You are now an Andre Braugher fan.
