I'm still trying to decide my favorite album, it's either "Ride the Lightning", or "Metallica". They both have some great songs on them.
Cliff's my favorite bassist too. I was watching a DVD with early concert footage shot by fans, and Cliff is the man performance wise, I also love how he would rock out. He was mezmerizing to watch.
If you are talking about Metal Gods, I'd have to choose Derek Smalls....Some of his work with the Bass rocks.........HARD!!
And for best Album I'd say Smell the Glove or Bent for the Rent
Master of Puppets, hands down. Followed shortly by Ride the Lightning. I cringe at the thought of Load, Reload and the greatest tragedy of them all St. Anger.
Favorite bassist or most talented bassist? Favorite: Jason Newstead. Most talented: Cliff Burton. Orion anybody? Cliff 'Em All?
I think Puppets still edges out Justice, I think Puppets is really the perfect metal album - can't get enough of it.
As far as bassists, I wasn't around for Cliff but his musical stamp on the music is undeniable so from that perspective he's probably my favorite...but Rob is a lot of fun and I've been to a bunch of shows with him playing, so I've got some more attachment to him.
Puppets would just edge it from from the Black Album.I'd say the Black Album edges And Justice.... into third only because it was the first Metallica album I really got into into so it has special significance for me.As someone already said Puppets is very close to the perfect heavy rock album.
