#307: Prison Break-In

The final countdown?

Postby LickMyLovePump » December 13th, 2005, 8:03 pm

Just saw it for the first time.Really liked it.I'd say that it's up there with Forget-me-Now as the best of the season.
I don't agree that it's full of whacky crap.Tobias' disease may not be to everyones taste, but thats the point. The writers are pushing boundaries of whats exceptable to poke fun at.They present this groteque death at the hands of GVH,but do it in a way whereby you can't help but laugh....."This is gonna hurt" or "The guy runs a prison,He can have any piece of ass he wants" were highlights.Personally I think they went a little too far with the Tobias thing, but it has provided laughs and I have for the most part enjoyed it....."Why is my head not going under water?????" Good luck to them wrapping it up!

...Otherwise I didn't really see how this episode was any more crazy or wacky than AD has always been.It actually felt very much like a season 1 episode.I think the shows impending fate is influencing how alot of people are recieving new episodes now.AD has always had a wacky element.

TBA was great, as was G.O.B's video.I also think This episode was a real testament to Cera's comedy acting ability. This guy has the ability to be the next Peter Sellers.Away now for a second(third, fourth) viewing

I will concede that the episode gets funnier each time you watch it and I overreacted at first.

However, I stand by my worries about the show's direction in general.

This was my favorite scene in the episode:

Michael: Hi, I just, uh... Wow. What are you guys doing?
Warden Gentiles: It’s perfectly innocent. But I can see how, if our roles were reversed, I might have you beaten with a pillowcase full of batteries. I’ll give you two a moment.
Michael: Thank you.
Warden Gentiles: (Mumbling.) I don’t know why I always assume everyone’s read my screenplay.

The sinister smile on Gentiles face was priceless when he said, "I might have you beaten with a pillowcase full of batteries."

Two things that really bugged besides the things I already mentioned were the overuse of Sexual Jokes and the return of the Jetpack. (Although it did make for a good gag for "On The Next...") I've cringed every time I've watched the scene where Michael is attempting to follow the map on Gob's stomach.

All in all there was a few funny things but probably in my bottom 10 of all time.

The more I think about the episode the more I laugh BUT the show is is losing it's soul and the "Her?" stuff sucked . I bet if they had showed this episode last week it wouldve been better recieved; its the whole "That's the last straw!" thing, I guess.
I talk all confusing like.

Loved this episode, and loved Amigos. That's one of my favorite GOB episodes. I thought GM was great in this one.

Rewatched it, I like all of these:

-"Does she play guitar?"
-The warden shh-ing the mother with the camcorder at the school play
-GM's "Please don't call yourself that" to Tobias, followed by Gob's "...this is heartbreaking"
-Sr.'s "I oughta shave your head..."
-The ambulance/car
-The inmates serving as waiters for the gala (orange jumpsuits and ties!)

Still - theres not enough down time/silence. We don't always need someone talking....every.....second.

There were moments of silence (guitar scene, tobias falling, Michael's reaction to Lucille's "water" line), but they were filled with music, which I think is something they are over-doing at the moment.

I like how when Lucille was talking to George Sr. on the phone, there was a picture of George W Bush on the wall behind Lucille....in a prison no less!

I agree with everyone who loved the Seinfeld line. Gob's reaction was priceless.

Not the greatest episode ever, but there was some good stuff in there, and it definitely gets better with multiples. Anyone else feel sorry for GM when the narrator said "That would be the happiest moment GM would ever experience in his life." A sign of things to come?

in (i think) afternoon delight lindsay started whispering after tobias fell asleep with a concussion even though he told the family he could die if he fell asleep.

i didn't think the reaction of the family was out of character at all. though something was definitely off with this episode.

I didn't think it was anything big, just that all kids like the idea of getting dressed up, going to a nice place - the whole idea of a gala is appealing to a kid in a way that it isn't to an adult.

One of my favorite lines of last night.

No, this isn't a sarcastic line--I didn't catch it the fist time, but listen to Michael's dialogue also:

Michael says that only losers go to galas with their parents. The narrator says that all kids like galas, which tells us that he, the narrator, went to galas with his parents as a kid and is, according to Michael's theory, a loser. It's actually pretty funny.
