Michael!

Talk about a specific Bluth or guest star.

I have a question.
There was an interview with Jason Bateman where they asked him what the biggest difference between him and Michael Bluth was and he said " I am least like my character in the sense that I'm the least conservative guy I know. "

How is Michael conservative?

Btw, the interview is here:

He's not completely evil?

Well, he is quite restrained. And instead of killing women, he eats jellybeans as a release. I don't know if Bateman does it any different, but...

I wrote a response to this yesterday. Where did it go?

Anyway, he has a conservative white collar job and lives in a conservative section of California. He also spent a bunch of money on an expensive and impractical sports car for himself and belongs to a country club.

Circumstantial at best, but there is probably better evidence out there.

In 'Shock and Awe' he comes across as politically Conservative, with the whole pre-emptive strike thing. There are few other examples, though. If any.

But I don't think Bateman was referring to Michael being politically conservative, more just his general behaviour. In that sense he is quite right.

Also, the boards have been playing up recently Leez34. Perhaps that's why your post never went through. Unless of course it was highly political, in which case it was probably deleted.

Well I don't think they delete political posts, but if it's a post stating 'my side is better and you all suck' thats not just as a joke, yeah it'll be gone, cause that leads to arguements.

Think of how Michael's in a shirt and tie just about every day. The humor of him buying a Corvette is in the fact that he's usually so reserved. I'd say for the most part, Michael is very conservative as opposed to flashy or flamboyant.

My original post was pretty much identical to what's there now. So it must have been the silly boards.

I think JB was saying conservative politically, because in his personal life, Bateman is very liberal and a supporter of the Democrats.

When I read that interview, I most definitely thought he meant conservative in the way that he behaves. JB also has a bit of a reputation for having been a little... unconservative shall we say in his youthful behaviour.

I've always wondered about that. JB always hints at his youthful behavior. Was it some Brad Renfro style heroin busts, or what? He's not specific.

I don't think it was ever anything as big as that, but he does say that he has drowned a lot of the 80's in bong water. There was also an interview about AD that asked if he had any previous experience with illicit wrong-doings like George Snr and he describes the drive up, pick up and drop off that he would do with drug dealers when he was in his 20s.

Yeah I seem to remember him having some 'wild' days in his youth - drinking and drugs and such. Seems to be a phase a lot of young stars go through - making up for missing their lost teenage years. I did read or hear somewhere that he was off the drink now though

I dont know if this has been addressed before.

Michael has made fun of GOB for not having any friends, but does Michael have any friends? He's dated women, but has never been shown with a friend.

Good point, but when you really think about it, do any of them have friends? GM and Maeby have each other and Bland and Steve Holt and that guy who likes the Jerky Boys, but the others... ?

I guess Lindsay had her hair stylist until he moved away...

Really, GOB is the closest to having friends, since he seems to be on a first name basis with several Hot Cops.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words- "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
