The Sound of Young America

Postby Premiere » May 4th, 2006, 1:57 pm

A radio show about things that are awesome (that's the actual byline).

The public radio show/podcast I'm always pushing, The Sound of Young America, is in Time Magazine this week (under best comedy podcasts, with the Ricky Gervais Show and The Onion News). Honestly, a lot of you guys would like it. Go through the archives and find interviews with guys like Devin the Dude, Patton Oswalt, Louis C.K., Robert Weide (co-creator of Curb Your Enthusiasm), Jonathan Katz, John Hodgman and even guys involved with Arrested like Paul Feig. Hell, this week on the blog they have a radio rip of a new Outkast single. Here's the link to the blog and try and subscribe; believe me it's worth it.

Hey thanks, premiere...

this is Jesse, host of the show.

I really think that if you're a fan of comedy, the show is worth checking out. The only AD'er I've ever had on was David Cross, and that was well before AD, but if Arrested is the kind of show you love... well... it's the kind I love, too.

Last week's show for example, had Jonathan Katz of Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist.

A couple of weeks ago, I had Jim Gaffigan and the guys behind Wonder Showzen on.

A couple weeks before that, I had Terry Jones of Monty Python and Dino Stamtopoulos, who's written for practically every great show of the past 15 years (Ben Stiller, Dana Carvey, Mr. Show, Conan, TV Funhouse, etc).

Anyway, you can check it out in iTunes or on the web. I'd love love love to hear what you think. I'll keep up with the thread...

Welcome to the boards! And please, plug away!

I've listened to a few weeks worth of shows, but haven't gotten too far yet. It's such a daunting task, because nearly every week looks like a really great show with amazing guests. DEFINITELY need to hear that Jonathan Katz show, though.

Have you had Robert Smigel on in the past? Or Jim Downey, or one of the other veteran SNL writers? Every time I've seen them interviewed, it's been rather interesting.

I've never had Smigel on, but I have had his frequent collaborator Louie CK on several times. This show most recently, had Louie, an academic who writes on Andy Kaufman, and Neil Hamburger. I thought it was a good one.

Please offer comments as you listen!
