#205: Sad Sack

Postby becky » December 10th, 2004, 7:53 am

LUCILLE AND OSCAR ARE IN LOVE AND TOBIAS TAKES ON THE GYM ON "ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT" SUNDAY, DECEMBER 12, ON FOX

When Wayne Jarvis is assigned to prosecute George Sr., he threatens Michael to turn in his father or go to jail. Michael, who has hidden his father in the attic, convinces him to stay hidden until he can figure out what to do. George Sr. confesses that he is only in town to win back Lucille and Michael is concerned that he will find out about Lucille's relationship with Oscar. Meanwhile, Lindsay spends more time with Maeby to get closer to Steve Holt and Tobias starts working out on the "Sad Sack" episode of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Sunday, Dec. 12 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (ARR-205) (TV-14 D, L, S)

Cast: Jason Bateman as Michael; Portia de Rossi as Lindsay; Jessica Walter as Lucille; Jeffrey Tambor as George Sr.; Michael Cera as George-Michael; Alia Shawkatt as Maeby; Will Arnett as Gob; Tony Hale as Buster; and David Cross as Tobias.

Guest Cast: Henry Winkler as Barry; John Michael Higgins as Wayne Jarvis; Mae Whitman as Ann and Justin Grant Wade as Steve Holt.

Wayne Jarvis! Steve Holt! More Maeby! This is gonna be another great one.

Speculating on the title: anyone think of "sack" as in firing? As in Gob will be fired as president? And the previews showed Buster going into the Army, but that's not even listed in the description.

Wait, wait, wait...

Am I reading it wrong, or is Lindsay hanging out with Maeby so she (Lindsay) can get close to Steve Holt!

?

(I had to put that later... you can't say Steve Holt! ...without ...yea).

The first 20 minutes were OK, but the Balls payoff made the last 10 probably the best ever.

Overall a solid episode...

It's really hard to follow up a classic episode like Good Grief, but I think this episode handled itself quite well. A lot of "subliminal" humor, for instance did anyone notice that when GM grabbed the handle of the refrigerator he got blue paint on his hands? What a great little gag for the true fans, even though the whole blue man thing may be getting old. A Strong episode which I enjoyed. And is it just me, or do you think Tobias' thunder should be categorized as a weapon of mass destruction?

Yeah, it was a pretty good episode, if a little bit too political.

The Buster/Gob scenes were great, they have such a screwed up relationship (Why are you hitting yourself! Now when you do this without getting puched, you'll have more fun.) George Sr. dressed as a woman, funny. And Lindsay trying to pick up Steve Holt!

The whole balls = wmds thing was a little too surreal for my tastes.

Michael: Are you serious?
Wayne Jarvis: Almost always. I was once called the worst audience participant Cirque du Soleil ever had.
Michael: This is a big accusation.
Wayne Jarvis: Well, Michael, I did not find their buffoonery amusing.

^Myself and the people I was watching it with loved that...

Agreed! I introduced a few of my friends to the show with this episode and that's the quote they loved!

Not as good as last week... but still good stuff.

Wayne Jarvis' Cirque du Soleil comment was great, Steve Holt - always great, lots of Maeby - great.

The "Sergeant Baker will not be calling anyone 'private homo'" was a clever callback to the Barry Zuckerkorn line last season, even though it didn't make that much sense... Barry's assistant is now in the Army?

And I guess I was really wrong about the meaning of "sad sack".

Is it just me or is Steve Holt gay? He seemed to perk up when he heard Lindsay was a dude...

It's never the ones you hope.

I always got the impression Steve Holt only loves Steve Holt!
