2008 Presidential Race

Postby LickMyLovePump » April 23rd, 2007, 2:50 pm

And so it begins in earnest.

I've nailed my colours to the Edwards mast early on. There's just something about him that makes me think he'd do a damned good job.. Maybe I'm being naive. I don't really care for Hilary. I've heard her speak at length, and nothing's really changed my opinion.

On Obama I'm still undecided. Is there any real substance there? Does he actually have any detailed policy recommendations.

Either way I think this will be a very interesting campaign.

Anyone else have any thoughts? Predictions? Hopes?

Fred Thompson will get serious consideration from me, if he jumps into the race.

If not, I'm leaning toward Giuliani. I don't agree with everything in his platform, but he's got damn fine leadership skills, and he does the right thing when it counts, in my opinion.

Tommy Thompson was featured in a George Will column today, and he seems like someone worth considering. But I don't know enough about him at this point to make that call. He's a Harley rider, which'll get him some middle American voters, for sure.

I can't see myself voting for someone named "Mitt."

Thus far, none of the Democrats impress me. But to those of you know me, that probably hardly comes as a surprise.

Since Bill Richardson has no shot, I would have to support Edwards. It's too bad about no one knowing Richardson, he would be great for foreign policy, which we need a huge improvement in after this current president. Then again, what I say or think doesn't matter, on Election Day I'll be two months short of voting age.

I probably won't be voting this year.
If I do decide to vote, it won't be for Clinton or Obama.
Giuliani and/or McCain have the best shot of obtaining my vote.
I will need something more catchier from McCain than "Bomb, bomb, bomb. Bomb, bomb Iran."
FI#2, where do you stand on the issues?
My vote is still out there.
PS: Lick, since when did they let our Mexican friends from UK vote?

To be honest, the 2008 US election has more bearing on the UK's immediate future than our own vote.

Plus, Edwards has great hair.

I think Russ Feingold should run. But anyway, I'm with Blueberry on Bill Richardson. He seems very qualified... very knowledgable of foreign affairs, which seems to be lacking in the White House these days. I think he'll be a wonderful Vice President/running partner. I'm not sold on Obama or Edwards at this point, and I'm not a big fan of Clinton. She hasn't done anything for NY... seems like she's been calculating and planning ahead for her presidential run for the majority of her time in the Senate. The idealist in me will vote Nader, but if I gain more confidence in whoever comes ahead from the Democratic party, I'll most likely vote for them.

And all I have to say about the Republicans is Giuliani seems to always be in the right place at the right time.

Edwards/Richardson ticket. All the way.

And honestly, anyone except Hillary, McCain, or Sam Brownback (though he's preferable to McCain as a person right now) would do in a pinch.

Hillary and McCain showdown would be the lowest turnout in American history.

Hopes? I hope Gob runs for president.

I mean, he's already got the Segway for it, and he won't fall off it.

Richardson?? .... Yes, he’s a regular Freddie Wilson, that one. anyway, GOB does have "President" spelled out on his Segway, come on! How can you compete with that?

But GOB lost his 'P' -- he's just a resident. If I had to pick an AD character for president, it would be George Michael. He's George Michael!

As for the real candidates, I need to do a bit more research before I decide who I like, especially since I'm a dual citizen so I can actually vote.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words- "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

I knew you were going to throw that in my face. But look who's running George Michael's campaign. GOB. He's an ideas man.
Sadly, most politicians are BS. It's about using money to push a selfish agenda, and serve their own menopausal needs.

You've got a point there. I mean, George Michael has the whole virgin thing, but he's really just pandering to the religious students that would make him president. GOB, on the other hand, has his tough immigration policies on teases -- he doesn't let them in -- and he would be great for tourism. I, for one, would love to make the biggest little mistake of my life in
Bleep
Mountain!

Wait, can I cram in any more references? Yes I can.

Nobody will volt for Steve Holt! though. He's a bastard. He doesn't even know who his father is.

Don't forget about the rubbers that say "we salute George Michael". Clearly shows his fight against teen pregnancy/STDs. Something he must have realized when he risked a herpes outbreak with Kitty.

Kinda describes a political system where someone is behind the scenes pulling all the strings, while the actual president is just a puppet. Not exactly a new concept.
