The Office (American version)

There are shows other than Arrested Development? Really?

Yup, it was a Kaling. And directed by Joss Whedon! He needs to direct more, apparently.

That was a great episode. I loved the whole part with the Jim/Dwight/Michael car trip (especially when Dwight was trying to pee into a can in the backseat  ) and the whole "prank" they tried to pull. "We will burn Utica to the ground!"

I'm so glad Stanley decided to stay in Scranton ... he's my favorite minor character on the show and it definitely wouldn't be the same without him. I loved Michael's idea for a help wanted ad when he thought they were losing Stanley (Wanted: Middle-aged black man with sass. Big butt, bigger heart. :) )

I actually watched it last night. First time in a long while.

"The eyes are the groin of the face."

Yeah, this was a pretty good episode.

Ending with a boistrous "Come on!" Now where have I heard that phrase before?

Dwight peeing in a can was way too much for a show that used to be realistic... Luckily they saved it with the line "I think I cut my penis on the lid," which ended up being the biggest laugh in the entire episode for me. :D

The Jim/Karen scene was painfully brilliant, though it's still annoying me how much of a soap opera this show has become.

Spectacular episode. Even when it might be veering into broad territory, it's so well done and within the characters that it doesn't bother me.

I’ve also noticed that in the Steve Carell penned episodes, there is something usually directly said that comes unexpectedly, and is not usually referenced that directly in any other episode. (Michael saying flat out he hates Toby, to his face in Casino Night, telling Jim he doesn’t know
why he says things like That's what She said
) I think that comes from Steve’s deep understanding of the character. This season is so good it’ll suck after next week not getting any more of it.

I think I can safely say that this episode was my favorite from this season (depending on if we get any more), and one of my all-time favorites on the show period. The intro was great, the closing scene was great, Michael's wilderness adventure was great (especially his non sequiturs that he thought no one would hear, and when Dwight tackled him for eating the mushrooms  ), and the flashback "office parties" montage was, yes, great. I really liked how Jim was starting to become a Michael clone, despite his obvious revulsion to such a thing, and also the talk he and Michael had at the end, which was strangely bittersweet.

The talk between Michael and Jim is what made the episode for me. As much as Jim hates to admit it, there is a bond between the two which, although rare, is still very apparent. Michael's capable of some stupid crap but Jim actually seems to genuinely respect him on some level.

I loved the stuff about Ryan in the diary, and how Toby was cracking up. :D

I loved it. They’re ever so slightly going to that dark place that the british show went. I don’t want to ruin the british show for anyone (speaking of, writers strike=great time to finally check it out if you haven’t), but the dark places it went, most definately were worth it for how it ended. Not only are we getting to the ennui of office life, but also the writers are making Michael grow a bit in spurts. Lovely unplanned end to a fantastic truncated season. On to season 5.

Also, the director of this one was Julian Farino, who normally works on...Entouraaaaaaaaaageeee.

yeah, that was a pretty heavy episode. I loved it.

for a split second, I thought Michael and Toby were going to have a moment of understanding there in the cafeteria.

here's hoping the writer's strike is over soon.

Michael and Toby in the cafeteria was easily the funniest scene of the episode.

So is this confirmed to be the end of this season, or if the strike is over soon enough will we get more episodes late spring?

Unless the strike is over before January, I'd say nothing new this year at all.

Well, the contract for Season 4 was for 20-something episodes, so it's definitely not the end of the season, but however long it will be before it resumes all depends on how long the strike goes on for.

They were actually supposed to have 30 episodes this season. Man this sucks. I'm still really excited to watch 30 Rock and Scrubs but Thursdays arent the same without the office.
Hey, Mikey, relax. It’s just a giant banana.
