Hear anything good at the Wellness Convention?

I ate all your bees wrote:I have yet to see Avenue Q. I know it's meant to be hilarious, but the whole idea of puppet love icks me out. This is also my main problem with Lazytown.

But what if it was muppet love?

I haven't seen alot of musicals, due to the fact that the closest theatre to me is the Ritz and the ones in Jacksonville, and both are expensive (Even though the RItz is really run down, they book big names. I think TMBG went there once, to my dismay, I missed it. The Wiggles were once there to, and when you can get a big name from the other side of the world, people will pay alot to see your run down theatre.). I have seen a buttload of movie musicals, though, my favorite being either The Muppets (any Muppets thing from the nineties and earlier) and Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory (hated the remake, it was so stupid)

Do you have a student card? How about an expired student card? Or a cheap forgery? I've found that in New York, at least, most theatres have drastically discounted student rush tickets ($30 instead of $150) and you only really need to flash your card. I peeled the expiry date sticker off my student card and it works like a charm (although they don't know there is supposed to be a sticker there, what with the card being from a random west coast Canadian university, so that might factor into fooling them as well). And yeah, yeah, I know I'm cheating the theatres I hope will some day produce the plays I write, but I just graduated this year so I'm practically still a student and I don't have any money. My only other option would be sneaking in at intermission to the plays I wish I could afford. (please, someone, get that reference)
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words- "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

oh believe me, dont feel like youre cheating them. I plan on moving to NYC after graduation, and I am definitely planning on using my student ID til the cows come home. Plus you spent enough on college, its about time you got a break, and what better way than with super cheap theatre tix!
It is believed that AIDS was originally contracted from the monkeys, no not the band, but the animal. And we just wanted to deal with that issue. Just changing the attitude from 'eww AIDSy' to make it like 'ahh fun monkey disease'

Yeah, I haven't exactly been losing sleep over it.

I think I used mine for about three years after I graduated. Possibly longer. It eventually became obvious that I was not the student I once thought I was and I stopped using it, but it was a crazy fun ride while it lasted.

Most of these places probably know that many of these IDs are outdated; they also probably know if you just graduated from college, it's not like you suddenly got a license to start printing money.

I also used to sign up for summer classes and validate my card, which also acted as a bus pass, for the summer semester. Then I'd drop the class and voila, free bus rides all summer. But then the university caught on that people were doing this and one summer my bus pass just stopped working and the bus driver gave me a really nasty look when I tried to swipe it. Like I'd tried to murder his whole family instead of use an expired bus pass.

Man, I wish my degree was also a money-printing licence.

In Pittsburgh you just had to flash your ID for the free bus fare. I only got to use that once after I graduated, but my expiration date goes up to 09, so if I ever find myself there again before then... (which I won't).

My sister doesn't get free bus fare with her ID, which is why Pitt is better than Penn State.

Nice. Ours made a horrible beeping sound if it was rejected.

What that happens do you say something like, "Oh my God, that means my financial grants have been rejected! What am I going to do? My life is ruined!"

You know, to try and get the sympathy free ride?

Actually, the best thing to do was to just keep reswiping it and tell the bus driver you don't know what's going on. Either that or pretend it had worked normally and just keep walking onto the bus. Because sometimes they really did malfunction. Also, if you were on campus, you could claim you forgot it and they'd usually believe you.
