The first one is Zodiac. I'm not sure about the other one (although it looks both familiar and amusing).
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words- "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

No ones posted so I'll go ahead.

This is on my list of top 3 worst movies I watched last year. (Right off the bat the movie makes you think it's
intriguing and intellectual but it's not.)

(it's a total rip on Wes. Andersons style. there is no excuse for this utter bleep)

Rocket Science...yuck. For a while I couldn't get the picture to load but I still guessed it just from your description.

Let's keep it simple...

I really liked a lot of it. It struck me as suffering from "first-feature syndrome" where the director tries to shove every movie idea he's had into one feature that says it all. Definitely a bit derivative of Anderson, but it gets a lot of the debate stuff absolutely right, and at least some of the feeling of growing up in the suburbs. It's not great, but I didn't think it was terrible. Any movie that has Jonah Hill assuring someone that there'll be "no Hegel," can't be all bad.

Though I haven't seen it ( ), I know it's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Now for something slightly more challenging:

All the Real Girls

This one's super easy, but I'll do it anyway:

The third is Barry Lyndon. That's all I know. We're chipping away at it.

Ok, hints for 2 and 4.

2: That's Bud Cort.
4. The woman is Rosanna Arquette

I think there's a statute of limitations on these things so I'll just give the answers. 2 is Bud Cort from "Brewster McCloud" (Robert Altman's film after MASH, unfortunately not even on DVD right now), and 4 is Scorsese's "After Hours" with Griffin Dunne and Rosanna Arquette.
