What films have you been watching?

Talk about that new Hemingway adaptation or anything else in the theatre.

Fanboys - For fans only most likely

As a fan, I laughed quite often, but I could understand it being alienating to the more casual watchers. I will say that Seth Rogen has probably the funniest "cameo" I've seen in a while though, and the leads are likable and funny while not playing up the cliche "nerd" stereotype.

Coraline in 3-D - Just plain mindblowing

The Class - Excellent as expected

BTW, Revolutionary Road is pretty medicore. A BIG disappointment from Sam Mendes.

Coraline - Amazing. The stop-motion animation was great and the 3D was beautiful. Very dark for a children's movie. 9.5/10

Lakeview Terrace - A decently crafted, thought provoking thriller. 7/10

The Rocker - Stupid and unoriginal. It 's basicly just a School of Rock rip-off . That being said, it still had some laugh out loud moments and funny lines.

"John Lennon is rolling over in his grave to hide the giant boner you just gave him!"

5/10

The Outlaw Josey Wales- Let me explain something carefully to all the punks out there. You CANNOT outdraw Clint Eastwood! You may as well keep trying though because it's damn entertaining.

Finally saw "The 40-Year-Old Virgin." That was better than I expected. Funny stuff!

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - It's not as bad as people say it is. It is very cheesy, but if you go in with low expectations, it is a fairly fun action movie.

Last year I didn't see any of the movies that were nominated for best animated film. This year I plan to see them all. So I saw Monsters vs. Aliens last night. It was a fairly fun movie with several laugh out loud moments. The 3D was much better in this movie than in Coraline but I still like Coraline more. 7.5/10

Sunshine Cleaning - Goes into Little Miss Sunshine territory a fair amount, and ends way too conveniently, but it still contains honest, relatable characters and keeps you entertained.
7/10

I Love You, Man - A more simplistically structured, but still frequently hilarious film.
8/10

Monsters vs. Aliens 3D - Boring and cliche with a few laughs from Colbert and Rogen, but aside from the decent animation, this was a pretty basic Dreamworks movie.
4.5/10

Adventureland - Sweet, resonant rom-com, with a suprising absence of raunch considering Greg Mottola(directer of Superbad) wrote and directed it.
9/10

Duplicity - It could've been less elaborate and the amount of twists will be hard to grasp for the average viewer, but it's an appreciated diversion from the heist formula, held together, even with it's excesses, via a great ensemble.
7.5/10

The Haunting in Conneticut - What it lacked in originality it more than made up for in scares. Don't let some scroogie reviews prevent you from seeing this decent horror film. 8/10

I just finished watching Slumdog Millionaire and I can easily say that it was one of the best films of the year, along with The Dark Knight and Burn After Reading. 10/10

Observe and Report - Best film of the year so far.

Fast and Furious(my brother's choice) - Racist, Sexist, and Surprisingly Boring.

Knowing(my brother's choice) - There's some pretty good instances of suspense, but the "christian messsage" slapped in completely ruined any mood that had been established. I believe in God, but I found the message to be highly hypocritical, since 99.9% of the people who worked on the movie were most likely atheist, plus there was absolutely no subtlety. They just spoon-fed it to the audience in an attempt to grab another demographic.

X-Men Origins-Wolverine - It has many flaws, but it is a lot of fun and a great way to kick off the summer movie season. Plus, having Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights, and Charlie Pace from Lost in the same movie is never a bad thing.

Step Brothers - Worse than I expected but it was still better than Semi Pro. 2008 was not a good year for Will Ferrel.

I watched Christine today. I hadn't seen it in a few years and I remember thinking it was boring when I first saw it. I don't know what happened there because that movie kicks ass. I've spent the day listening to the soundtrack and wondering where I could get my hands on a non-possessed Plymouth Fury.

Drag Me To Hell - One of the scariest, and funniest, movie I have seen in a long time. A true reminder that the horror genre is alive and thriving. Original movies like these remind me why I love movies in the first place. It feels a little redundant to give a film a perfect score so soon after my last one but this movie deserves it. 10/10
Terminator Salvation - Nothing but mindless action. Not that mindless action is a bad thing, but it lacked a decent story and grew dull by the end. 4/10

Night at the Museum 2 - As a movie it wasn't that great. But as a kids movie it was pretty entertaining. 6/10
