Sort of leeching off of Tio and Dr. Wordsmith, Michael seemed like the only loyal, noble member of the family and everyone accepted that thinking "wow, somehow he ended up dodging the faulty parenting that he’s been surrounded by," but maybe he just hides it better than the rest. Or he has reasons to hide it. Like a naive son. And a dark past.

It’s weird though; I can’t stand Jason Bateman in any role other than Michael Bluth. Seems like a very fitting character for him as an actor...

He seemed to have gained a bit of weight in Season 3, or maybe it’s the age lines. I dunno what it is, but he looks slightly different. I also noticed noticed throughout the series is that Michael has a tendency to have his chin in the airwhenever he talks to someone which shows Michael’s condescension.

I actually noticed that after listening to the S1 commentary - can’t remeber exactly what was said but I got the impression JB is a little conscious of having a double chin. It’s kinda begun to annoy me because its all I notice in some scenes.

I have a question.

There was an interview with Jason Bateman where they asked him what the biggest difference between him and Michael Bluth was and he said " I am least like my character in the sense that I’m the least conservative guy I know. "

How is Michael conservative?

Btw, the interview is here:

He’s not completely evil?

Well, he is quite restrained. And instead of killing women, he eats jellybeans as a release. I don’t know if Bateman does it any different, but...

I wrote a response to this yesterday. Where did it go?

Anyway, he has a conservative white collar job and lives in a conservative section of California. He also spent a bunch of money on an expensive and impractical sports car for himself and belongs to a country club.

Circumstantial at best, but there is probably better evidence out there.

#50 LickMyLovePump wrote on April 26, 2006:

In ’Shock and Awe’ he comes across as politically Conservative, with the whole pre-emptive strike thing. There are few other examples, though. If any.

But I don’t think Bateman was referring to Michael being politically conservative, more just his general behaviour. In that sense he is quite right.

Also, the boards have been playing up recently Leez34. Perhaps that’s why your post never went through. Unless of course it was highly political, in which case it was probably deleted.

Well I don’t think they delete political posts, but if it’s a post stating ’my side is better and you all suck’ thats not just as a joke, yeah it’ll be gone, cause that leads to arguements.

Think of how Michael’s in a shirt and tie just about every day. The humor of him buying a Corvette is in the fact that he’s usually so reserved. I’d say for the most part, Michael is very conservative as opposed to flashy or flamboyant.
