From your Editor: For the inaugural selection for The O.P.’s Book Club,
I’m pleased to select a book that helped change my life.
A year ago, I was running a successful newspaper serving
the greater
Balboa/Newport Beach area. The paper was #1 among men
aged 18-35, and #1 among women 18-49, but I was unhappy.
My self-esteem was at an all-time low, so I turned to food.
I was popping cornballs like Teamocil, and my weight ballooned.
Then one day, I was having my third entreé with Tommy
Cruise when he told me about a book. Tommy had just read this book,
and it made him realize that he was deceiving himself and
the world by staying in a loveless marriage with Nicki.
Tommy realized it was time to let his little bird fly away. They went
their separate ways.
Today, Tommy is much happier. He walks down Christopher Street
with his head held high. He’s even grown a beard!
I realized that if this book could change Tommy’s life, it could
change mine, too. So my personal assistant read it.
Then she read it to me.
And let me tell you, girlfriend,
this book turned my life around. My ego is now through the roof.
So without further ado, I introduce the first book in The O.P.’s Book Club.
From my good friend, and a doctor of psychiatry, Tobie Fünke, The O.P.’s first selection of the month is The Man Inside Me.
The Man Inside Me is about a frightened young man trapped in a prison of his own creation, and his quest to exorcise his personal demons. The book talks about his spiritual journey starting from when he receives a message from the universe that makes him realize he needs to fight for his freedom. And so he gets on all fours, and claws his way out.
This book is without doubt, The Must Read Book of the Summer. Buy this book now.
