Staying Cool During the Heat Wave
As the mercury goes up, be sure to protect yourself.
Balboa is expecting record hundred-degree heat next week, and doctors are advising residents to be cautious as the heat can be deadly. The O.P. presents the following tips to help survive the dangerous conditions.
Avoid strenous activity. Try not to exert yourself in the hot temperatures, as heat exhaustion can be deadly. Your body will perspire in an attempt to cool down.
Dress loosely. Choose loose-fitting clothing and shed unnecessary clothing.
Drink plenty of fluids. Avoid caffeinated beverages and alcohol, as these beverages may dehydrate you. Avoid high-sugar beverages, which may make you hyperactive.
Protect your head. Wear hats, and protect yourself from direct sunlight. A headband can also help collect excess perspiration, and prevent undesirable fungal infections or bodily odors.
Check on your elderly relatives. Dozens of senior citizens die each year as a result of the heat, before they’ve even had a chance to try pesto.
Don’t forget your four-legged friends! They have fur, so they’ll heat up faster than humans. On the other hand, they’ll actually look forward to being cleaned!
But the surefire way to beat the heat, as every kid knows, is to take a dip in the pool and then enjoy some ice cream!
